Anyone else REALLY miss longer/denser episodes?
It's so much harder to care about these characters when you've had such little time with them. In season 1, you'd get dozens of points in the game where you'd be able to explore around and talk to everyone (with multiple conversation branches).
Fast forward to now, and that almost never happens (in other TT games, too). The character twists that happened this last episodes barely had an impact on me. The characters barely feel more than one dimensional, so I kind of don't really care.
I don't know. Even season 2 had me feeling this way. At least that season had Kenny, though, someone you were able to grow to care about. I'll still keep playing them for the stories, and for the hopes that they get better, though.

Yeah the deaths of the characters in this game didn't have much of an impact as S1 and S2, they are just more like "whatever".
Sometimes i miss it, but Season 1 suffered from too much down time, its entirely possible to learn more about a character without having to slog through a dozen of dialogue options. 2 hours is the perfect length for an episode, and Tales and Game of Thrones established that length very well. Not too long or short. While I don't mind 90 minute episodes, and even 60-80 minute episodes, 2 hours is the ultimate sweet spot for telltale (when their stories aren't crammed with puzzles ex. Sam & Max, Monkey Island).
Eh, I guess. Personally, I'm fine with medium length episodes as long as they bring back more in depth hubs to stretch the run time at the player's leisure. More than one conversation pure character, thank you.
I think Borderlands did the best job with this so far, post TWD S1.
I feel like I'm waiting for episode 3 of this season when I'm really waiting for the finale and that's fucking depressing
Exactly.
I tend to forget S1 had 2 hour episodes with quality writing and good pacing. ANF struggles to get passed a 30 minute mark.
YESS!!
I wouldn't count S2 considering how characters such as Sarah and Nick were easily forgotten. Same with Walter.
Yeah definitely. I wish these episodes were at least 2 hours. One of my favourite things about season 1 was the ability to just walk around and take time to explore optional dialogue with characters, resulting in me getting more attached to some of them. If ANF had more of this, I feel like it would have done MUCH better.
Hallo i am new gamer and i prefer short and shallow episodes
yeah
With the way things have been it doesn't even feel like the season should be over yet. It feels like I'm waiting for episode 4.
feels like im waiting for episode 2 tbh. like the story is still building. (like the mcneil ranch) (or the carver thing)
Hell yeah. Some people probably won't like the slower pacing at first (I know a number of buddies of mine were bored after the first episode of season 1- crazy, I know ), but once it grows on you and you realize just how much more attached you get to the characters, it really starts to stand out just how much you miss it in ANF. It's a little jarring, to be honest.
You know it's sad when we know more about Ben than we know about Javi.
It's only the biggest complaint of this season since forever.
So big they had to split the ep my...
This season should've been a 6 or more episode season that saw the game split between Clem and Javi. Just like TFTBL
Instead we get a short poorly written story where Clem exists in it solely so they can say she exists in it. My will to hang with the story all this time doesn't feel like it has a pay off. Feels more like being purposely mislead to sell me things.
I've always been day 1 for TT since 2013 but I don't think tha t will last. Minecraft is the only one I haven't played but since 2016 everything they do just feels so short and it hurts the writing.
The fact 2 eps came out the same day. Plus it being so short. It honestly feels like almost nothing has even happened on the entire season. It's developed as much plot as like 2 episodes would.....
Agreed.
It becomes even more disappointing when you realise the 4 episodes released could have been fit into 2 episodes
Yes i want the hubs back i want to talk to characters out of the story a littile bit to know who they are what they like where they came from who they care for that what made TWD S1 great because you can do all of that
How many times are people going to make the same ( I miss longer episodes) thread?
Until maybe TT listens and gives the people what they want. No harm in trying.
How many times are we going to have to tell them we want longer episodes before they realize they should provide longer episodes???
Yes, I miss the old pace a lot. Season Three feels super rushed.
I'd be fine with 2h incl cinematics and hubs, just like in S1.
