David reminds me of...

KENNETH.
first of all no Tripp isn't kenny. Tripp is a poorly developed character. But this guy does reminds of him. His temper and general aura seems similar. I know many of u hate david because Clem hates him and tbh he wasnt totally wrong when he decided to expel her and then we came to know he actually saved aj (wtf). David reaction to Javi totally replicates to how kenny reacted to lee given lee's responses. I actually hope he survives the season and that baseball scene was one of the best scenes of a pretty mediocre season.

  • I wouldn't agree with you, Kenny was all about protecting his family at all costs and possible mean where David kind of abondon Kate, his childrens because he, in my eyes, weren't even trying to find them after the apocalypse. He seems like he don't give a shit about his wife and especially Javier, even though he's trying to reconnect with Gabe

i don't think it's true what you said about David. he didn't go back because he thought they were dead and you can't really say it's his fault for thinking that after his mum die .

  • U cant blame it all on david. Kate was equally shitty to him and since they found david, he said it a couple of times that he will protect his family no matter what and kate is the one who dont give a shit about him. and how can u say that david doesnt care about javier?

  • Hell, Conrad was an even better Kenny than Tripp, but I feel ya. I like that David isn't just another family man though, despite his previous attempts to do so: gives him an unusual trait for a main character in this serious.

  • I can't disagree that Kate is to blame as well as even before they split up she wasn't fair with David but in my opinion when in the Javier's flashback he's telling that he wants to go back into the army despite his family it made me feel like he's trying to run away from problems.
And back to David attitude toward Javier, he didn't even took care of him back when they saw each other at the gate. He doesn't seem to be thankful that thanks to him his family managed to survive. They still keep fighting instead of putting the past behind them, and this makes me feel like he's not like Kenny, but it's only my opinion

  • Kenny fights for something he finds important or worth getting hurt for, his family and friends, showing how much he values those simple yet important things in life - trust, loyalty, dedication, etc.

David fights for the sake of fighting. He is unable to control his anger - while Kenny could be brought back with words, it takes punches and dead people to cool down David. He might be thinking he values family, but in fact, he only needs people to have his back, to be completely obedient and supportive; he easily exposes his loved ones to extreme danger and doesn't think his action through - he asks Gabe to "cover him", when Gabe can clearly get shot dead in the shootout which was caused by David himself.

  • The points u wrote about david, could easily be said for season 2 kenny as well. Was kenny able to control his anger in season 2? didnt kenny tried to push clem into stealing radio (knowing how big of a risk it was)? also kenny could be brought back with words? yea totally that fight vs jane, clem was able to calm him with words. I don't kenny was any morally superior after how his arc ended in season 2. He was enjoying violence in late season 2.

  • In late S2 he was too far gone to listen to words, but previously it worked just fine.

Lee can convince Kenny to stop the train without fighting him; Kenny listens to Clem in the Ski Lodge, where Clementine is able to dissuade him from shooting Carver. You use words to calm him down after Sarita died or to convince him to wait a few days after AJ was born. Talking is still an option. With David, he either outshouts your words or despises them, he's got a very little respect for other people's opinion and tends to abandon his loved ones for the sake of blood/revenge.
