It's safe to assume that the similarly carefree Javier wouldn't want to be tied down, especially to the results of a preexisting relationship. So his rapport with Mariana, Kate's daughter from another man, would be all the more noble of him.
Well it wouldn't be Mari's fault that her mother decided to marry again. Plus they're closer in age ir maybe their personalities are just compatible and they became Best Friends Forever
Hmm...true. It's just that Gabe, like David, gives off the impression of being a fundamentalist, wanting things to be "right" with other people's conduct. And the potsmoking Kate stepping in after his real mom's presumable death as is no doubt a major source of the rift between them. So for him to accept her daughter, proof that she likely sleeps around, would be really unusual, even if he happens to get along with her. But like you said, maybe he'd realize that she has no control over that regardless of how he feels about her and direct all his anger at the one at fault.
It'd give Kate's attraction to Javier a little more fuel
How would that work?
though it would be a bit peculiar if Gabe reject… moreed Kate but not Marianna.

He's Cuban American so he will have his Cuban heritage, Cuban skin color and can speak Spanish, but he can also speak English and will have an American accent, at least that is what it is like in most cases.

Javi does sound like the average American guy. Not nessecary a white guy since being American doesn't only mean being white.
But it is strange the way he talks Spanish since he grew up with Cuban parents.
If he was adopted I would understand. But this isn't the case.
Clem's skintone too.
She can be David's child too with a mulatto or black Asian mommy.
