Any Road to survival players around?

I recently started playing Road to Survival and I was wondering if anyone here has played it? If so any tips? I really like it but honestly I have no idea what I'm doing XD

Also feel free to talk about the game and what you generally think about it.

  • Yeah, find a decent guild because they are one of the reasons I still play the game despite being shit at it. Also do the road maps, especially the recent telltale of because you can get Javier jerseys, which can be used to unlock Gabe, which can be traded in for Eleanor, which can be upgraded to tier 4 and traded for Tripp.

  • Well. It was very good. I am not saying it's bad now, but it feels like Scopely lost interest. They are to 80% re-using old roadmaps, which means no new stories. The world map updates twice a year if you are lucky. I've played it more or less since it released back in August 2015.

The first year was very fun, Scopely seemed to be investing a lot in it. New engaging modes such as level up and war tournaments. I played, literally EVERY day until January this year. I think me and Scopely lost interest at a similar time.

I think, however that it is one of the best apps out there, considering without a doubt that I played it for a longer span than any other app.

I think it was because I kinda lost my goal. My goal was to get 5* characters. That's what kept me going, I got my first one in November 2016. And then I got like 3 in December, and I just felt like.. Isn't this supposed to be challenging? I now hace like 10 5*, and it wasn't any fun to get then anymore.

The only real thing I could do is reach level 100 (I am at 71). But that is not really worth it. The clan I was in, 'House of Mayhem' more or less died exactly a year after I joined. Now most of us are checking in a couple times a week.

A tip that is very important is to find a clan for newcomers, but when you are high enough, say a solid 4* team, you should go on to a better clan, with good people. Because that is one of few things that kept me going.

Good luck on your journey though, Agent! It really is a great game.

  • lol how do you even get any 5*

  • In later times, 5* tokens are your best bet, if you are F2P (Free to Play). If you are a P2P (Pay 2 Play) however, just continue to buy from the packs, and eventually you'll get one. I am a F2P, so I didn't get a 5* untill they put out the 5* tokens thing, before I had about 1% chance to get a 5*.

  • I got extremely lucky and pulled Javi a couple days ago. I'm so happy cause I <3 him so much.

  • Aww, that's awesome! Javi is amazing.

  • You can't trade between players. You can only trade in the museum, if you reach certain points.

  • It's an enjoyable titles that quickly falls into the 'pay to advance' trap.

When I stopped playing was when was going to take two days to upgrade a building to train characters I needed to advance in the story missions.

It was then I realised I'd be spending more time not playing the game in order to be able to play the game. Unless I was willing to drop cash on ridiculously overpriced currency in order to bypass the wait times.

  • There is no trading. I meant that if you go into the museum, you have to trade Gabe in order to get Eleanor.

  • I have a strong love/hate relationship with Road to Survival. But its one of mostly hatred.

Its satisfying to unlock characters you like and occasionally, the combat is fun. It has a decent strategy to it, I guess.

But I absolutely ABHOR everything else about it. Its so undeniably pay to win that its almost sickening. One can say what they will about it, but its pay to win and you know it. I only redownloaded it recently for the new ANF characters, which are pretty subpar in my opinion.

Its something to fuck around with when I'm bored/waiting for a game to download, etc. Outside of that, it has no use for me since I can't legitimately earn a single damned useful item or character without having to pull my wallet out. Which you couldn't catch me doing if your life depended on it.

    I know!

I never got any premier recruits but I finally did it when it really mattered. <3

However I do agree that it's a pay to win game. Every event depends on how much $ can you spend to reach the top. Even in pulling the premier recruits, you can spend so much yet got nothing/no one useful. There's no real incentive to invest in it, unless you don't mind spending big.

  • Well it's a free game so how else are they going to make money from it? No reason to hate it because the people who created it need to make a living off of it.

  • I know, I thought, "There goes my lifetime's luck." LOL

I only pay for that 30 days sub and saved a lot for him cause I'm not a whale, not really. Even so, I knew I most likely would not get him but I tried anyway and it paid off. :D

The most luck I had was getting 2nd place in that road map tournament that is going on today but I still got bumped down to 5th place in less than 5 mins XD

That's a pretty weak defense for the pay-to-win method.

If they wanted to make money off of it while making the game challenging, but reasonably challenging, then the base game could have just cost a few bucks instead.

  • Good game being ruined by awful devs imho

  • I did play it for some time, then after 2 days of not finding my phone my guild kicked me out, (was in top #10), and it was full already as I've tried to join back, so I've stopped.

Did have a good S1+ team though.

  • I've always wondered what that S1 meant

  • Yeah. I was fairly certain that S stands for supreme, but supreme 1, doesn't make a lot of sense, does it?

  • Yes... I have level 50 and completely upgraded Lee, and I'm gonna get Tripp at the end of the week.

  • S1=Season 1

  • I don't use any money, and I'm great at the game, but good characters during events do kinda rely on money if your amazing during events. Almost got Tripp actually.

  • Wasted more than 2,000 coins trying to get "Ties that Bind" Clementine but all I ended up getting was all 3-star characters

  • Is that clementine road map non-canon? She brings up that Richmond is full of new frontier but she doesn't know that until she travels with javi, and it is later destroyed so it can't take place after anf so perhaps, unlike the season 1 roadmap, this is non canon to the story?

  • Dude... like an idiot I accidentally deleted Lee when I was leveling my characters. I doubt you can get him again so I'm hoping I can get the No Time Left version.

  • It'd just be a cool reference. Don't think of it as Canon.

  • The season 1 roadmap? I think it was either schooled or telltale who confirmed that it took place in between episode 3 and episode 4 and that it did in fact happen.

  • Francine also told the twins that they had to stop NF to get (back) to Richmond, did she already know that Richmond's been occupied by NF? Or is it non canon?

  • Most likely non-canon. I assume Conrad would know about Richmond if franchise knew and even Conrad didn't even know it was full of new frontier.
