Whats with the dialogue Ep.5?

I have my share of complaints this episode, but I'm going to zero in on some of the bizarre dialogues that took place and the limited options the player has to pick.

Gabe, who I am not roasting for being big headed and opinionated like most teenagers realistically are, is wildly inconsistent this episode. Where did this whole, "we don't need to kill anyone" attitude come from all of a sudden? He was the one that pointed a gun at Conrad after he had already lowered his gun. Now he's doing a 180. When they first enter the building at the start of the episode, Gabe starts arguing with Javier that he didn't have to shoot Joan, but then when David defends him, suddenly David is the scary bad guy and Gabe backs off behind Javier, despite having been the one that shot Joan (and equally justified the action).

Second, the conversation with Eleanor, she starts off by attacking me for shooting Joan, then I yell back and the conversation completely reverses without any explanation. She just suddenly accepts that my argument completely invalidates hers and that shes wrong and suddenly I have a choice on whether I forgive her or not? Sorry, but to me it looked more like she was the one after the apology. Finally, she just accepts forgiveness for a crime that moments ago she denied committing. On the whole I found it very confusing.

Next up, David breaks the arm of that crazy woman holding a gun, so I support him throughout the whole conversation. "So I guess I'm alone then". Umm... no? I just said thank you and that it needed to be done. Why is Javier all of a sudden quiet about this?

Then again with David, I support him when he says we need to leave in the truck, but after a few more lines of dialogue, he's surprised when Gabe decides to go with him and suddenly acts like he never said it was a good idea to leave Richmond and that the town was doomed.
While I did agree to start a relationship with Kate, I never said, screw whatever David says. However Kate automatically decides what Javier is going to do in the conversation and you have no choice to disagree. When Kate kisses Javier, you cant do anything and then you get a token dialogue option that amounts to 3 choices which all essentially say "I love Kate" and nothing else, followed by a second choice with essentially the same options. I ended up staying silent through the whole thing because it didnt make any sense.

Lastly, I found "I love you" to be the most corny dialogue option possible to avoid the fight with David. Thus, despite not wanting to fight David I had to in the end by hitting him because if I had said that, my own brother would have just punched me harder for being such corny idiot.

So yeah, it's pretty difficult to find the dialogue very engaging when none of the conversations make any sense and you can't even express your opinion on things.

Comments

  • Shameful bump, I honestly found that people were reacting completely contrary to how I was responding, I cant be the only one who was seeing this.

  • you can't even express your opinion on things.

    I agree, no worries

  • I had the exact same thoughts when i played it.
