Clementine should not have been in ANF

It's pretty clear now that there was virtually no reason at all for Clem to be in this game aside from marketing purposes. The only goal she had in the game (finding AJ) wasn't even accomplished.

I realize why they did it from an out of universe perspective. But from an in universe standpoint it would have made far more sense for her to not be in this game at all and in the next game they could pick up on her story.

  • Blatant cash-grab.

  • After finishing Ep.5, now it's clearer than ever that this was a spin-off marketed as Season 3 with Clem being shoved into it at the expense of her S2 ending.

Yup, her only goal of finding Aj didnt happen in the season, because Telltale wants to make us pay more for what we should have gotten in the first place <3

  • She was just a plus one throughout the whole thing.
Plus, I got beyond tired of her obsessive focus on AJ. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Unfortunately, season 4 will almost certainly focus almost exclusively on FINDING AJ-- OMG, ONE PERSON WHO I NEED MOST OUT OF ALL THE PEOPLE I'VE MET PLEEEEASE I NEED TO KNOW

    Give it a rest, girl.

  • Couldn't agree with you more. She had one purpose, and at the end, that purpose wasn't even fulfilled. She had no reason for being in there other than for marketing, it's so obvious. She's all over key art, advertising, trailers, etc. and what it boils down to is 4 five minute flashbacks and no playing time in the final episode.

  • Yep we just started where we ended in s2

  • But without Kenny/Jane. Which sucks. Kenny was legendary.

  • I meant what Telltale consider the cannon ending as they made sure everyone's Clementine was alone this season

  • Agreed. Remove her from the story would be the same more or less. Also not a fan of what they done to her character in this season. Makes me a sad panda.

  • Yep. Clem found out about Mccaroll Ranch. That was pretty much what her character got out of ANF.

  • She may not even get that, you only get it if you kill Lingard in Episode 4.

I didn't kill Lingard in my playthrough, and he showed up at the end of episode 5 after Richmond was secured. He tells Clementine where AJ is located. So, you get the information regardless of your decision.

Edit: Fixed my post so that my point was made a little more clear.

  • Ah, I did not know that, never mind then.

She is a one note bore with all of the AJ, AJ, AJ, AJ, AJ nonsense. There is more to her.
It would have been cool if they cut to a brief two second flashback of Lee cutting her hair as Javy cut her hair. But noooooo, "AJ, WHERE DO YOU THINK HE IS? MUST FIND HIM."
