I think the ending where Javi saves Gabe and Clem stays with Kate is really good for the following reasons:
* David gets an extremely e… moremotional death
* Gabe survives and gets a lot of development
* Kate's fate becomes unknown which will likely be explored in the DLC
It ultimately felt like the "right" ending that the season built up to, although I also like the ending where Kate and Javi bury David's dogtags.
Okay I've thought it over and my thoughts are as follows:
Going after Gabe feels much more canon than saving Richmond. Javier's walker batting practice is nearly as badass as Lee's armed with death scene. Shooting walkers from a slow moving construction vehicle? Not so much. Plus, the motorcycle scene was in the finale trailer.
Gabe and David dying is emotional but is arguably the "bad" ending because David dies offscreen and his "legacy" dies as well. Objectively the worst ending.
Both David and Gabe surviving is a shallow victory because David still needs convincing to stay and won't talk to you after the 3 day timeskip. Kate does get a decent death though.
Kate, Gabe, and Javi ending seems like the best ending because the people survive, but it feels almost Disney-esque. Little emotional payoff, David dies offscreen but gets a funeral which was a nice touch.
Gabe surviving with Kate disappearing feels like the best for so many reasons. Amazing walker batting practice scene. Most emotional death of the season with David. Significant character development for Gabe. Heartbreaking unknown fate for Kate. Truly felt like the ending the whole season had been building towards.

Agreed! Especially with the parallels between Javi killing walkers to get to Gabe and Lee's scene in the finale. It's a very emotionally climatic scene for the relationship between Javi and his nephew. I really, really loved watching it play out.

has DLC been confirmed?
Well, that makes the ending already impossible for me, since Clem decided to go with me (It's based on previous choices), soo yeah.
Atleast Gabe and David is alive, I guess.
