Did anyone else feel like ANF was just a huge cut-scene? [vague spoilers]

So, ANF is finished. I didn't like it. I wish I skipped it entirely. But whatever.

One of my burning issues with it, however, is that the entire thing just felt like one long cut-scene with the occasional chance to pick a dialog option. I mean, back in season one (and even season two) we had a lot of situations where we could walk around, talk to people, check in, interact, solve puzzles, and just.. feel like we had to put some effort into the game.

But ANF felt like a movie. I had my hands off the keyboard 90% of the time, only occasionally clicking a dialog option. In the entire last episode, there was a single time where you got to click around.. and it was from a first persons perspective and it was just.. terrible. Pointless.

I think this is a big reason why ANF felt hollow to me. I feel like I had no impact or no way to reach into and explore the locations or even talk to the people. I just sat back and occasionly picked a dialog option that didn't even correspond to what Javi would say.

  • Yes.

    More action and less substance.

Apparently this is deserving of a "thank you" from ANF fans.

    Quality is dead.

  • The amount of interactivity has gotten worse with every game. Season 1 was an adventure game, this is a movie, and not a very good movie at that.

  • This was a big issue with me too. Did they just get lazy with their new games? Or are they thinking that because season 1 was such a hit, fans will buy any Walking Dead game they put out so they won't don't have to put in as much effort as before?

  • Hopefully in the Clementine story there will be more interactivity in the game than it was in ANF. ANF was mostly pressing Q or E with quick time events that most of the time you didn't have to do.
