Everything wrong with ANF(STOP PAPERING OVER ITS CRACKS)
The nightmare is finally over...or is it? I don't need to make a proper introduction so let's cut to the chase. Hubs and episode length do not need to be talked about again so I won't talk in depth about them. Same with the flashbacks.
Story.
The story is the weakest out of all 3 seasons and probably the weakest story in Telltale's games(from what I know of at least). So the story is you play as some dude who wants to redeem himself in the apocalypse. So we start with a flashback for the first episode which is okay as we get to know the character....then we get another flashback in episode 2.......then another in episode 3.. then in 4 and 5. Flashbacks aren't exactly bad but if you use them continiously that's lazy writing and downright pathetic.. The story was clearly rushed out as all the communities basically fell in 1 or 2 episodes. Telltale claim this season is all about family and to be honest they're right.....a poor showing of a family story which is basically a love triangle cliche with an angsty and inconsistent idiot teen.
Characters
I don't even want to get started on these characters. THEY'RE HORRIBLE. I have not seen more bland characters in a game. THEY'RE SO INCONSISTENT TOO SO THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE PROPER TRAITS. A perfect example is Tripp and Eleanor. So what do we know about them other than one is a leader of the community and the other is a doctor?...They only exist for their relationship which didn't even go anywhere as a side-plot. Now looking at the villian it's so steriotypical. The ol sweet lady which turns out to be evil. We got this with Brenda you know we didn't need it again. Now the inconsistency......Here's Kate, someone who wants to escape Richmond as she believes it's not her fight, suddenly she wants to save Richmond?????? Then you have Gabe someone who ratted you out with that smug grin on his face, all of a sudden is all right with you. David says he wants to make things right in Richmond then all of a sudden wants to leave. Clementine acts weird as well as apperantly she likes Gabe when she just met him and then cries when he's about to die(Can even kiss the stupid idiot) and I don't like how she ends up the same. Her behavior is barely impacted except for the choice where you have to pick where you have to go.
Content,choices and pacing.
Nothing like some hard choices in a telltale game....or not. There has not been any hard choice or emotion choice. The ultimate choice is telling Clem if she should leave AJ or take him...Compare this to Lee getting shot or left by Clementine. Compare this to staying at Wellington or leaving.... In season 1 there were some hard and intense choices like the meatlocker....Kill Larry or attempt to save him. The ultimate mid-choice is literally accepting or rejecting to mess around with your brother's wife....LOL. Also this game's pacing is horrible. You can barely take any emotion. Look at Ava's death or Tripp's death. Both were ignored swiftly and you didn't get to feel the moment or anything. It was glossed over. Also some of the content is a bit boring or sometimes is all action. Not a good amount of middle ground. Look at episode 5 for example. You just do some filler stuff until you fight with David and have to pick where to go.....cooooool.
Ending
Hooray multiple endings that won't matter........with no closure to Clem's story........................and her hair looks worse than Carver's face.....
Moral of the story, this game is BAD and should NOT RANK above 5.5/10. It'd be lucky if it could get a 6. If you think this game is good, I feel bad for you. I don't know where all the good reviews are coming from... "Best walking dead story ever told..." Yeah right.
Comments
I wonder if they're going to pull off the same shtick with "muh family" nonsense in the real S3, that S1 crew avoided on purpose... ?
Dont' be wrong about that, Kate doesn't help Richmond for the people, she does it because she's a selfish s***, which feel responsible for what's happen to Richmond, basically she do that for SHE feel better !
In one version that I played, she is exactly like Gabe, She kiss you in front of David just to get him in rage mode, because you rejected her ! Same selfish behavior Gabe had when he rats you for having saved his life ! (Well I just would save Clem, saving Gabe from Conrad was just a collateral damage)
In my first game I was always opposing to the 2, trying to save my brother, result = then David dies and these 2 craps live ! FML
The little adorable Marianna dies for nothing, and you have to stay with the annoying one, I swear I did my best during the 2nd game I replayed to let Gabe die each time it was possible !
You don't know why Clem can kill in cold blood, of course she grew up in apocalyptic awful world, she's been betrayed a lot, BUT I teached with Lee, to not kill when you could !
I totally agree about Clem crying from Gabe, be sad is ok but she knows him for only 3 days max, and if you count in "hour time", I don't think the total is over 2 hours
Then kissing him was so forced and probably made for woman gamer wanting romance !
I don't like the new graphism !
I only liked really Javi, he changed (in comparison to, you truly right, the boring familly flashbacks), he is a good brother when selfish Kate would leave him non stop !
That 3rd game have a lot of problems !
I only enjoyed it because Javi ! I put is moral in the same way I did in Lee !
I still enjoyed the game in despite of all that, and it was great to see Clem smilling at the end
