The choice in TWD :ANF whether to save X or Y is really meaningless
That's one of the two big things I didn't like in the whole game. First one was Marianna's death that was super disappointing and killed her potentially awesome character.
Why even bother saving any of them (Tripp or Ava) when 2 scenes later they die and the only one who reacts is David when Ava falls off saving you? I don't know why you even bothered to gives us that choice. I thought Ava was a friend with my Clem, they even shook hands and she didn't give a single f*ck about her dying to save Javi. Next time, please don't make pointless deaths like that or if you're going to make us take a hard decision (that has a twist, mind you) as to who to save then make it worth our time and emotions put into it.
I really liked Ava's character and I had to start the whole scene over again to choose to save Tripp instead and to make Ava think I betrayed her, because she will get shot if I chose her. So, at least you gave us the option to explain that somehow we knew the person we chose would get shot. (lame excuse). But that didn't help when she dies a minute later. So if you give us choices like this in the future, especially in Episode 5, make it so that the character we chose somehow splits from the group and goes on their own or something and we don't know of his fate. It makes it much better than her getting pushed off the bridge to save your ass who didn't even bother saving her. She could've went with David for all we cared and died together. It would've made much more sense.
Thanks for reading and have a nice day.

How does David react to Ava's death?
"Oh my god! AVA!!"
"FUCK"
"Oh --- god damn it, NO!!"
That's all the lines said during her death. No other character even recognized her dying except Javi.
David mourns her for about 5 seconds and after that David completely forgets who was the person who kept him alive for 4 years.
Oh, geez. What the fuck, Telltale.
That honestly reminds me of when Nick dies in episode 4 and Luke, his best friend, doesn't even remotely show any concern except for telling Rebecca what happened and one line in episode 5.
Honestly, at least people acknowledged Tripp's death.
Edit: The characters, I mean.
