Would you play TWD if Telltale fixed its flaws but didn't include Clem?

If Telltale were to make another season where they addressed and rectified our concerns (e.g. more hubs, choices mattering consistently through the season, less deaths for shock value, better pacing, etc.) but decided not to include Clementine, would you still play the game?

Comments

  • Yeah definitely, I would be annoyed that they didn't include her but if the game turns out to be a solid TWD game then I'm all for it

  • Probably more-so than I would've before. I only ignored the Michonne miniseries because it involved a character from the TV Show, which I still haven't watched yet to this day and therefore felt like playing the DLC required personal experience to enjoy. Meanwhile, I'm honestly just at a point where I don't really care about Clementine anymore and just want a cohesive, consistent story that I can fully enjoy without useless or unnecessary baggage.

  • Sure I will! It wouldn't be the same, but it will give me a fresh start again with new characters and setting. New Frontier would've been a lot better if Clem wasn't in the game even though I love her to death.

  • No, two seasons just to ditch the character that the entire story is ment to be about?

Might as well call off TWDG then.

  • Yes I would you know I played all 3 seasons so far and I still never really grew a huge relationship with Clem like most fans (which is also why I enjoyed ANF) in season 2 playing as her kind of got boring but if they make better pacing with Clem or not I would be happy to play.

  • I personally feel like Clementine's story is being dragged out a bit already (feel they should have ended her story at the end of season 2) so I definitely would play a god TT game that did not involve Clementine. I'm more than just a fan of the video game series anyhow as I watch the show and read the comics as well.

  • They could've done that at the end of Season 2. Now they can't, and I won't really care if they come out with a new TWD series.

  • Actually it was Michonne from the comic. Everything TellTale does takes place in the comic universe.

  • I agree that it [Clementine's storyline] is being dragged out. If they actually wrote the game well they could've set it up so Javi can have a well developed story for him for like two seasons, but nooooo, let's milk her plot for all it's worth.

  • Yes I would!

  • I would actually like to see fully fledge seasons that explore other characters, I think playing an adult female could be interesting, but I still want to continue Clementines story I guess, so I would want A New Frontier style games (obviously without alot of the bad things from A New Frontier), but like, not part of the main series, and have the main series about Clementine, I actually enjoyed Michonne, because it was completely disconnected from the main story

  • I'd give it a try for sure.

  • I know, I was just reiterating my initial assumption as an ignorant casual.

  • No, they already did that with Michonne and look how boring and meaningless that turned out to be.

    Agreed.

  • Michonne was literally a three part DLC that was much more enjoyable than season two IMO. It wasn't even an actual season, and Michonne was a better protag than Clem.

  • I wouldn't count Michonne, as that's an already established character. It creates limits for location, there is no character development as they're already very well established, and even it's near impossible to create the illusion of choice for a player for a character that has a canon arctype and universe. If they decided to do a Glenn or Jesus Mini-Series, it would be fair to compare that to Michonne though.

  • I'm sorry, but I honestly hated playing as a damn kid who was forced to do adult shit, it felt kinda dumb IMO.

  • Uh... Yeah!
I don't consider in any way TWD to be "Clem's story." [opinion, opinion, opinion]
I find that the world itself in which it is situated and the stories that can be told there are The Walking Dead.
Whether or not it has Clem in it, doesn't matter to me. I'd buy it if it was good.

  • It's not like shes a poor child living in the apocalypse where shes forces to do the unthinkable in order to survive. That would be crazy and waaay too realistic!!

Seriously though, did you completely forget what game you're playing and the whole basis of it??

If you don't want a good story or any realism go play COD zombies.

  • I never said it was unrealistic, I just didn't like it. I get it, she has to do that shit and be forced to kinda grow up, I just feel like there could've been better PCs than Clem.

  • Which game is that meme from? lol

  • Of course, I'm sick of Clementine tbh.

  • Nah.

I mean it's bad enough they killed off S1+S2 characters who had potential, but not have this character who we knew for like what 5 years and that is basically it's mascot is bad enough.

The characters in these kind of games are actually what is holding the game together.

I see your point however, usually within any fictional or non fictional world you pick a main character and follow or narrate their long journey while experiencing trials and danger along the way with the character until the end like with Rick. Comic doesn't hop from Rick to Dwight then from Dwight to Jesus then from Jesus to Michonne or Andrea as top character etc... unless it's like Game Of Thrones but it's more called for and understandable since they are telling many stories simultaneously. Just my two cents.

You might say the games can be different which is true. I mean Javi wasn't the most awful protagonist but it's awfully hard to relate and care about his struggles and if he and his family makes it like caring about Lee and Clementine making it since the tree house. If Javier was introduced and then left during season 1 at some point like Glenn and Lilly with his family then that might of been a different story literally.. But I mean who's next after the Clementine story in season 5 for example? Brand new main character Mike Jones the ex football quarter back who tackles walkers and his sick uncle at the abandoned subway?

  • Yeah. I just think that Telltale's Walking Dead series doesn't need a singular character. The world is big, there are probably many communities and people and situations that people get trapped in.
I'd be fine if it moved on to an anthology series.
But for now, I don't mind this.

  • Yes, definitely. Lack of logic, plot holes and general fuck up irritated me more than Clementine's presence (or absence) in the game.

  • Yeah probably. Although I do think TT TWD is Clementine's story and I would be wondering "where's Clem?", I could see myself enjoyig it for what it is. But I doubt Telltale would ever fix the problems that they had with this season.

  • No this franchise should end...telltale have been milking the fuck out of it and it's just a cycle of choices that is repeating itself but with different charecters....just end its suffering because nothing will top the first season #NOTHING#

No. Clementine's story is the only thing I'm invested in, I simply wouldn't care as much about a season with new characters. (I guess I'd play an episode or watch it on youtube but I'd find it about as interesting as I did Michonne, rather forgettable unless its spectacular and tops season one, which I highly doubt with the current formula they are using and the 90 minute episodes)
