Why does Gabe go with David [SPOILERS]

In episode he goes with David, after David got Clint's brains all over him, pushed him, and fucking hit him with a wrench in the face. I feel like it's more of a plot Convenience than a character trait. Like it's so fucking stupid. Anyway, if anyone has the answer could you please say why.

With Gabe, for example, he started out in a pretty sheltered world, and was kind of chafing from that in Episode 1. Across the middle episodes, he was testing his boundaries as well as dealing with the revelation that his hero-figure, David, was alive and well. And in Episode 5, he leveled up a bit in maturity, realizing that David might not be as perfect as he remembered, but even so, might need his help. When he agreed to go with David, despite having been accidentally knocked around by David twice that episode, he was doing so out of selflessness rather than selfishness, which represents considerable growth from that moody teenager in Ties that Bind.

  • It's because David is the dad that he's been missing and over-idealizing for years. Just because he opened his eyes and saw David for the danger he could be doesn't mean he was gonna just give up on him cold turkey.

Besides, he also admits when you ask him about it that he went along with it purely to try and convince David to change his mind on his terms. Unfortunately, that wasn't gonna work and so he grabbed the wheel in a last ditch effort to make him change his mind.

  • Honestly, when I played the episode I thought that David knocked him out with that wrench and kinda dragged his ass to that truck. Once Gabe woke up he tried to stop the car and then they crashed. But those are just my delusions.

Well, besides the fact that David literally slams the door down, making it difficult for Gabe to choose Javi regardless... The kid was faithful to his dad even when he thought the guy was dead. Why stop when he's sitting right in front of you promising you that life will go back to the way it was? I don't agree with it and the Gabe I knew wouldn't have done it. I think it should have something to do with whether or not you shot Joan, honestly, since Gabe's reaction to that seems to be really monumental in terms of how he looks at you.
