Should have TWD ended with season one?

While personally liked season two i still believe season one was magnitudes better and after playing/watching all the seasons i feel like season one is a stand alone game weirdly. It just has a different feeling to it i quite can't place and while i'm glad there was a season two i think i would still be happy with season one ending in a way reassuring us of Clems safety and letting us see Lee content and giving credit to the season on a whole. And then if they wanted to make a sequel make it follow new characters.

  • Yes, it should have. For the exact reasons you just gave.

Could have but it ended on a cliffhanging end that obviously was a set for the second season. They would likely have needed to change the ending if they never planned for multiple games. Plus they're based off the same world as Kirkman's comics. It's in their better financial interest to keep up the games and makes sense to keep up with the comic timeline until the comic is finished.. Atleast to me it does. So I'd half expect Telltale if they don't ruin partnership with Sky bound to pump out games until the comic comes close to conclusion.

But just because sequels rarely surpass the original it doesn't mean they should give up on them so never understood that notion. There might be a chance of it being better if they are smart about it. I don't have to like the sequels but I won't say they shouldn't have been made because I wanted a continuation and so have most others I'm sure. Folks keep hollering about a wolf among us sequel until it's out and done badly then they will want to complain and ask on forums "Does anyone else out there of the dozen million of other players possibly feel similar to me and think they should have stopped at the first Wolf among us game?"

A great original story isn't easy let alone a continuation of a successful story. So I never go into the sequels with expectations that it will beat the original, I expect them to be less with each installment but still kind of good. If it does end up better than that's just a plus.

  • Same for movies, try to find a 2nd opus better than the 1st, it is pretty rare
