Rise of the Pirate God *speculation*

After a lengthy play session of Siege, my thoughts naturally wandered to the rest of Tales and the direction it's heading with the Pox and a good, puzzle solving LeChuck. It occured to me that with the Pox spreading, and with Guybrush the first victim, could he be the Pirate God of the last chapter's title? And could the Pirate God be a villain?

How would you feel if in the final chapter, players have to control human LeChuck in order to defeat Guybrush Threepwood, ultimately sacrificing himself to restore them both to the pirates we love/love to hate?

Maybe it's De Singe after he uses his elixir.

I've been assuming it's LeChuck but maybe not.

I think Guybrush is the cure as he can create an antibody as he may become immune, therefore he becomes like a god to all pirates who want to be cured

    How about MacGuliicutty ?
    It's almost his goal already...

Some interviewer already spoiled this for me a while ago (in an interview with Dave I think), but I wont post what was said here.

LeChuck is the pirate god... he absorbs all the voodoo evilness again and becomes an "all powerfull" immortal/undead pirate again....

Making guybrush the pirate god would mean the end of the saga

I think that in 'The Trial and Execution of GT' , Guybrush will be found guilty at the end of it, and just as he is about to 'serve' his sentence, the pox will completely take over him and he'll become a new leChuck like pirate. (aka the cliffhanger). I have a hunch that the last chapter we will play as Le'chuck, being the good guy, and having to defeat Evil pirate Guybrush.

    That truly would be amazing.

And every puzzle you would be like: Anyone give me a hint?
    Elaine: Use...
    LeChuck: Aha, use...
    Elaine: ...fist...
    LeChuck: So, so, use fist...
    Elaine: God Pirate Guybrush

Not sure if I'd like to play as LeChuck against Guybrush.
  • edited August 2009
IMO switching over to play as Lechuck in the last chapter would be really stupid. you have always played as Guybrush and spent all this time getting to know him, and then BOOM your Lechuck. It would kinda ruin it for me actually :/

Yeah, that would make no sense and would an extreme injustice for all the characters. I like Guybrush way too much to want to defeat him. People are taking this good thing LeChuck way too far. Him sacrificing himself for Guybrush would ruin his character and would be pointless as we would just feel sorry for him once he become evil again. LeChuck is too valuable as a villain to just throw away or ruin that characterization.

I always imagined that LeChuck would be a human until this whole pox thingy was lifted, hence going back to him again in full glory, making everything "back to normal" in time for the next season :)

so, who will become the pirate god? my best bet would be de singe. he's well established as the villain "mastermind" in this installment of the series. whatever he is working on will probably make him the pirate god.

don't take my word for it though :p

Since the name of Episode 4 is "The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood" My bet is on him and Le Chuck.

He died for our sins and returned from the dead about one month later. Where have I heard something similar????

    Optimus Prime!

Regarding eps 4 title, I really don't think Telltale would put such a big spoiler on the episode title, my guess is that he somehow avoids execution (kinda like Jack Sparrow in the first POTC movie: he's rescued at the last minute).

De Singe for pirate god... no... He's not really a pirate so... My bet is on LeChuck! I think he's just acting good
(notice the way he looks at the turtle artifact when he takes it out and the things he says, "power to control the seas, etc"... That kinda gave away that he's still has his power-lust!)
SO my guess is that at the end he gets even mightier than before and becomes a sort of a pirate god

Banjo Kazooie. Bottles dies and then is back a week later.

Maybe in Ch.4 GT is fatally executed (feels strange needing to decribe an execution as fatal :p), so at the start of Ch.5, De Singe finally gets the rest of GT to finish the elixir of life and uses the elixir to bring GT back from the dead. After the public execution, and the reemergence of GT, all the pirates start to worship "The Immortal One (tm)".

No really... NO ONE thinks it COULD be Macguillicutty ?
DeSinge defintely will have a big role in the whole story but... pirate god ? I dunno... Just doesn't seem so likely to me.
On the other hand, Macguillicutty seems way more likely... He IS a pirate and seems pretty much willing to just take over the carribean if he can...
Sure, i guess it could pretty much be LeChuck too, getting back to his former self, but it kinda seems to obvious to me...
So right now, my bet is still on MacGuillicutty. I really doubt we won't see more of him (hey, after all, he's the only character besides guybrush willing to find the giant sponge so far).

I'm going to bet on the dark horse candidate and say that a pox-infected Elaine might be the eponymous Pirate God.

    Why? ...I don't know; I just like dark horse-style plot twists. ;)

And if the pirate god is Nor Treblig?

And if Nor Trebling speaks, could it be voiced by the real Nor Treblig?

Bigger twist: IT's STAN!!! NO, it's Winslow. No, It's SAM AND MAX!!!
  • edited August 2009
Just wondering, even though Lechuck is supposedly good now after transfering the pox to Guybrush, what is stopping Lechuck from getting infected again not by el sponge grande or some other means at the end of the game (if this is possible) but by the pox that is infecting the pirates across the caribbean from the pox cloud, i mean its not like he is invunrable to be infected by the pox cloud since everyone else seems to be getting infected by the cloud?

    BTW,
i think that in the execution of GT it wont be him Guybrush would have tricked them and it will actually be 2 monkeys in his clothing. :p

Guybrush would be an amazing pirate god, Guybrush Threepwood Allmighty Pirate™

    No, It's SAM AND MAX!!!

Two pirate gods? Or sam and max molded into one?! I would actually want to see that done..

    Actually, the title's been misspelled.

It's "Rise of the Pirate Dog".

Which again leads us to Guybrush.

(You know, that dog in MI2.)

Not necessarily. The phrase "pirate god" could be gender neutral.

And Sanin...here. Have a ten foot pole, 'cause I'm not touching that one. :p

I do also, though it'd cause a maelstrom of whine from MI fans that it's not LeChuck [which is a little reasonable, considering Escape]. I'm a relative newcomer to playing the series, though, so I'm a little more open, meguess.

That would explain the Sam & Max tiki in Indiana Jones & TLC...

    I like this idea
    It's original

I'd also like to see him get a piratey gimic each ep
    Ep1 Pyrite Parrot
    Ep2 Hook
    More injuries
to His eye in the manatee
    Ep3 Eyepatch
    De singe strikes again
    Ep4 Pegleg
Ep5 He becomes a pirate god
    And must be stopped

That'll be interesting. For once, we have a LeChuck that is not obsessed with Elaine, only this time, the pox-infected Elaine develops an all-consuming obsession with LeChuck -- a situation that is the mirror-image of all other MI games.

I'm in support of the Elaine idea.
she really seems at the end of chapter 2 to be easily swayed by the pox.
where as since his hand has been severed, the 'Brush has be remarkably resistant to it.
