Why did David leave ****

SPOILERS FOR SEASON 3!!! I DIDNT PUT UP THE SPOILERS BANNER BECAUSE THEN ID HAVE TO MANUALLY TEMOVE IT EACH TIME I OPEN THIS THREAD AND IT ANNOYING!!!!

Why would he abandon AJ? He said he liked AJ, he sent him to a ranch or a farm or something. Who is taking care of him? It makes no sense.

Comments

  • I thought he was just saying what we wanted to hear and that AJ was dead. But that isn't how it played out.

  • Bad-writing, that's why.

  • According to David all of their crops died during the bad winter and there wasn't sufficient food for AJ. David couldn't leave because he was the security expert so he had Lingard find a place for him.

  • @VengefulKenny has it right except for maybe The Winter.

  • i think the real question is, why did they take AJ away from Clem? he's a loud, sick baby. why would they want that? lol it was so badly written. they just needed SOMEONE to take AJ away so Clementine would feel obligated to help Javier's team.

So David can "adequately" punish Clementine. It just so happened that Lingard and Ava saw legit reasons as to why they shouldn't let him go back into the wild despite clearly trying to get David to ease up on Clementine.

they just needed SOMEONE to take AJ away so Clementine would feel obligated to help Javier's team.

Which doesn't really make sense, but whatever.

  • Apperantly there wasn't enough food so they sent him to a ranch......

  • Because winter was coming.

  • Actually, this is potentially a plot hole. Shouldn't this ranch have been raided if Joan started the raiding because of that exact winter? If they had food and were close by..... Well, I guess we'll see in Season 4.

  • Maybe Joan didn't know of the ranch but it still doesn't make sense as you said because it's close. Very weird.

  • Well, to be fair, we don't know the situation. It may have got raided and forced them to leave (which would give Clem reason to follow and start off the events of Season 4).

So, it's not a plot hole yet.

And even if it is, it's possible Joan wouldn't know, but I'll still call bullshit since her official job was dealing with outsiders.

Of course, they could have had a deal with A New Frontier which saved them from raiding.

There's plenty of ways to close the loop hole, but there is a possibility that it will exist.

  • I'm pretty sure Joan was using her diplomatic experiences to find places with lots of supplies and scoping out weaknesses so David's men could get in and out really quick. Maybe even bribing guards to look the other way while they take shit.

  • David: "Hey, Joan, our crops are all dying, what should we do?

    Joan: "BURN THEM ALL!!"

    David: o_O
