My thougts and doubt about TWD

Hi everyone! I know Telltale since 2012 thanks to TWD but just recently I started playing telltale games. I started with TWAU (my first telltale game that I left in 2013 because I had a pirated copy, I knew I was a stupid kid but now I have a legal copy of the game) and then TFTBL because I read great reviews. Both are masterpieces and I thought no other telltale games would be better and instead I'm wrong. A few days ago I finished TWD and damn this game is beautiful! The development of the characters, the important choices, the soundtrack (but I think TWAU is a little bit better) and the hubs, God the hubs are great! looking through objects, talking with others, solving puzzles, is something I've never seen in the other games I've played. Anyway I have a doubt that I hope you can help me understand (please don't spoil because i really want play other seasons), I don't think I have to write "spoiler warning" but if you have not played it yet, don't keep reading.

When Lee strangles the stranger until he falls to the ground, the game give you the chance to shoot him in the head (I didn't because I did not want Clementine to see it but I think I made a big mistake, I mean, he kidnapped Clementine!). Does this mean he was not dead yet? Or shooting him served to prevent it from being transformed? I know there is a third way where Clementine kills him but in my story I did it alone.
I hope you can help me guys, sorry for my English. Thanks!

Glad to see you enjoyed TWD: S1, which is a true masterpiece of a game.

As for your question, The Stranger died when Lee choked him, but his brain wasn't destroyed in the process. You either had the chance of leaving him there to turn, or to prevent him from turning by shooting him in the head. That was the reason for the choice.

  • Glad you enjoyed the first season of TWD. It won a lot of GOTY 2012 awards. That game is the reason I've got into Telltale games. Season 2 is good but not as good as Season 1 but still enjoyable. A New Frontier (Season 3) is just awful. I would not recommend that shit at all, however, if you want to play it, I'd suggest you to buy it when it gets cheaper because it's definitely not worth the full price.

  • Oh! Thanks now I understand. And you? Did you shoot him?

  • yeah i read a lot of disappointment not only on the forum but also on the reviews on steam. It is sad to know that the quality has dropped but I still trust in telltale and I hope they learned from their mistakes. fingers crossed for the fourth season

  • You should know that we did make criticism about Season 2 and Telltale didn't fix that with the third season

  • Clementine shot that bastard for me.

So no, I did not shoot him. Sadly.

  • It just seems to be the only thing you talk about is all

  • That's not me. I only talk when other people talk about it.

  • Reminds me of all the Kenny haters as well. It's all they ever talk about...

Hard to tell if Stranger was dead after Lee chocked him, Lee was quite strong fella but weakened from the blood-loss and ya know, dying, so it is possible that Stranger just passed out for a while, and the shot in the head was the real cause of his death; anyway it was enough to make sure he wouldn't turn and more explicit end to his character development.

  • Thank you but I saw my choices at the end of episode 5 and there was "you and 40% kill the stranger". This mean that you can kill him without shoot... I guess
