As a counterpart to a previous query, why do some people seem to like David? Center of the story or not, the sheer degree of it just seems more than a little odd, all things considered.
He was pretty much the only character with an interesting backstory and had decent interaction with Javier and Clementine. The game would have been considerably better if he was the main character in my opinion and a lot of other people have said the same. Unfortunately like Aron Dracula said, his character was ruined towards the end. When he went crazy over the love triangle thing regardless of the players decisions and then died later, I remember losing the interest I had in the game very quickly.

I liked him because he was the most complex character out of the new cast, and because he reminded me of Kenny in certain ways. David also helped raise AJ, who probably would have died if Clem had taken him back on the road during that bad winter.
David could have been a better character if the writing had taken time to show his softer side. I mean what was it about him that drew Kate to him originally? I mean he couldn't be an ass the entire time right? Add with that, he somehow missed some of his men going off places and then they come back and ammo had been expended..that shit don't grow on trees folks.
The problem we end up having with him can be best summed up when we contrast his final choices with Kate's final ones. David chose to carry on his vendetta at the risk of the city and potentially family. Where as Kate saw that innocent families were put in danger by actions taken and chooses to try and help. David chooses the Kenny thing to do...instead of making him a different type of character...they give David Kenny's need for vengeance...but never devote any time to giving him a redeeming quality like Kenny did have.
This is all of course due to the writing and I would say that the massive rewrites that were going on did his character no good at all. I mean you could see what they were trying...He had been a soldier and obviously he was carrying a lot of baggage...he felt more useful as a sergeant than he did as a provider and husband. There were good things that they could have went with. Maybe he felt bad that it was only in the battlefield that he truly felt at peace with his nature.
This all of course could have been developed better if the game itself had not just dumped the player into these situations 4 years after the outbreak. How are we to even understand these characters if it seemingly wants us to make choices as if we had known them for a long time? That would be like if they made a game where we played as Clem but she was 19 and all our choices were ones that asked us to talk about people we never met before.
There is an old saying..."Know Thy Self"...it is very applicable to why this game was in trouble from the start. We just did not know these characters.

Uh, actually, it's more like David decided to call it quits at the last second in favor of cutting his losses on his terms.
The vendetta thing was kinda dropped between episodes along with Joan/Clint.

Well this thread went into anti David levels.

He was the most interesting character, and the best part of the season was his relationship with Javi. And as someone with PTSD I can relate to his anger issues. It's by no means right but it's understandable. And I usually like the morally gray characters, more complex the better.

I used to like him until Episode 5.

I actually like David, I don't like how telltale handled the love triangle.

This. So much this.
In Earth 2 Javier and Eleanor Dating Kate had no choice to be back with David , and Tripp with joan
What's to like about anyone from Seaaon 3? Lol
The main thing for me was that I loved the complex yet brotherly relationship he had with Javi.
...What?
