To be fair, you can say that to some extent of Clem in Season 2, no? Outside of a few determinant dialogues, most of her overall story is the same (aside from the five endings, which ANF pretty much all but disregarded anyways).
As long as they don't write themselves into a corner of having to acknowledge events which would only happen to a "particular" Clem, I really don't think it would be too bad (although they did give Clem different "scars" in ANF depending on her S2 ending, so who knows)?
I'm not fully for clem being in a comic written by kirkman but yall saying it wouldnt work because of the whole "my clem" thing doesnt make … moresense. You very well know your choices didnt shape her and shes the same clem as everyone else's lol, except maybe for a scratch on her forehead or a mark on her hand. Doesnt change hardly anything.
I'm really enjoying the changes they are making to the characters in their Batman series. For the first time in a long time I'm enjoying a Batman story and not knowing what they are going to do next.
Think of it as an Elseworlds if you will. Familiar characters but often different personalities and motivations.
At worst, it butchers characters that have been established in the lore for over half a century. At best, it just flips some roles around fo… morer shock factor. I don't really want to spoil specific twists for anyone who's interested but hasn't tried it, but I felt the entire basis of the first seasons story was horrid, and aside from the terrible reveal using an existing character instead of just introducing a new one, the twist did nothing but diminish Wayne/Batman as a character by throwing out a key factor in his origin for shock value. Season 2 though. Even one of the best graphic novels left doubt in this particular characters origins. I don't know why anyone thought it would be a good idea to prioritize a character introduced in TAS and reduce one of the oldest, most celebrated characters in comics to the role she fullfilled when she was introduced in a 90s cartoon.

They would just pick an ending and set of circumstances and roll with it, it's not a hard thing to do.
Look at the spinoff media for Dragon Age. They've totally disregarded the multiple player choices and set down one set of events that they feel gives them the best world and characters to play with.
If it were up to me, I would likely pick the Wellington ending. It just gives a scar that can easily be forgotten about in the art and they'd be able to tease Kenny's return, since he'd technically still be alive.
That's what Bioware have done with their Dragon Age series though. They've decided on a canon series of events for all their characters in the spinoff media and ignored player choice.

I'm torn if I would like to see her not. On the one hand, it would be cool to see her more e… moreven if she becomes a side character. On the other hand, it makes her story have a specific cannon. Even if they don't refer to her background, what scar (or tattoo) she has would at least show what the cannon Season 2 ending choice was.

Bioware said similar things with Dragon Age and look what happened there. Hell they even did it to an extent with Mass Effect where Udina ends up the human Councillor in ME3 no matter what you chose.
The point being that companies say many things, it is wise not to believe them all.
I get that it can be done well, Flashpoint was a good example of characters becoming drastically different while remaining true to the character itself. This is just completely overwriting histories to present characters differently.
Flashpoint showed us the despair parents fell into losing a child, where they went from that. It was based on a singular tragic event that affected everyone in a horrific way. This event takes on a weaker meaning when the people involved are changed to further the plot. As beloved as the 89 Batman is, one of the weaker aspects has always been that Joe Chill was changed to Jack Napier to unnecessarily tie in the main villain to Batmans origin.

Saying Clem won't be in the comics or tv show could be a red herring. Kirkman also said that there wouldn't be a FTWD/TWD crossover, but now that the FTWD story has allowed for a crossover, they're doing a crossover.
So it could just be that there's no intention to cross Clem into the comics or tv show b/c currently the storylines don't allow for it.
But I would love for Clementine to be introduced into the either or both platforms.
I don't want Clementine to be in the comics because she is from the videogame and yes I know that the game takes place in the comic universe. TellTale wants to give her a farewell we will all remember. If they want to add Clementine to the comics TellTale or Image Comics should create a series for Clementine and her adventure and plus why would I want her in the comics with all the horrible things going on in the comics such as Lydia and the whisperers?
This was actually pretty funny but why would people expect Robert Kirkman to respond with an answer to that question when The Final Season isn't even released yet.

Telltale and Kirkman made a statement back when they were making S1 basically saying no one playthrough is canon.
.
When was this?
EDIT: I meant was there an article or an interview they said that in?

That would be cool. It would be a great way for Clem to still be acknowledged and for fans of TWD who haven’t played the game to play the game.

I don’t know if this contributes to this topic, but here’s what Kirkman just tweeted:
