State of Decay as a template for a Open World Walking Dead Game
So last week I was going through the forums when someone plastered a State of Decay2 trailer on a thread. Well I was interested, so I checked Steam and found State of Decay1 and bought it. It is a fun game...my first go around was just a mess....I lost people fast and failed to set up outposts...so I started a new game.
Several ours in, I was helping neighbors hunt down a feral zombie(basically a stronger faster and less pleasant zombie) And the unexpected happened...Maya the character I had been using, who I had been working so hard to get her shooting level up got killed. I was a little upset.
Then it struck me...what if...what if not only having these types of missions...the devs had taken the time to make the game into an rpg where you truly got to know these people? What if the same level of character building from S1 had been put into the game instead of the cliché lipservice to character development it had?
It struck me that State of Decay could have been something like a Witcher3 but for the Zombie survival horror genre.
What do you guys think? If you have played the game...what would you have put in to make this enjoyable game even better?

A Mass Effect/Witcher 3 style game with Moral and dialogue choices and survival mechanics set in the Walking Dead universe? sign me the fuck up
I have played that game like several hundred times..literally. I sort of like the way it is now and is fun enough but still can be improved just in different ways. If I wanted soap opera level character development I'd like to think I could get that in the telltale games. But haven't been able to recently because of the severe dip in quality post S1.
Another (SOD2) is on the way already which will become its sequel. Cannot wait for that one because I've played the original so much that I'm looking for something more from the same company that made this game.
