Sadder death? Noah in the TV series or Ben's 2nd death?

Noah's death:

Ben's death:

  • Of course Ben's. While Noah's death was brutal and probably undeserved, I couldn't really care much for his character and his death made Beth and Tyreese's deaths feel pointless.

  • Ben. Just the way that he didn't know that he had been impaled when they came to save him... Just tragic. And it resulting the Kenny's sacrifice, too. You can't beat it.

  • I thought Lori's death was the saddest in the whole show but that is just me since I think plenty folks disliked Lori. Noah's was overly violent I felt than sad and could of Ben prevented were it not for Nicholas (see what I did there? lol). Ben's was a tad bit sadder since I think he was only trying to prove himself to the group that he was reliable and he was just dealt a bad stroke of luck and could not of Ben prevented because no one would foresee the balcony giving way due to the repeated strain of the other survivors weight pressing down on the hinges making the whole idea unsafe.

When I think of the impact of character deaths I categorize it under three factors.. Anxiousness, Shock, Depressing. The anxious death makes you fear for the characters safety because you really want them to make it out of a bad situation. Good example of this for me were deaths like Sarah's from the video game season two and like Noah's death listed above from season five of the show. Noah's death also was a bit shocking but a shocking death is more swift and unexpected like Beth's and Herschel's that comes out of left field from nowhere. The anxious death builds anxiety within you because of the approaching danger and happens to a character you would prefer to live or at least not die that way because they do not deserve a fate that bad or maybe they do if they are a villain and your anxious because you want them to die in a horribly just way. The shock death is what you'd expect and may or may not happen to characters you care about like Bre/Mariana from the game or Beth from the show. Last but not least is the depressive death and these deaths are sort of with a sealed fate because the blow has been dealt resulting in irreparable damage and you know the character's most likely last moments are near such as Lori's death and Lee's/Duck's death.

Noah's death caused me high anxiety levels than depressing sadness and so did Ben's death. For me neither was that sad like Lori and Lee's deaths.. just I felt they didn't deserve to go out that way in spite of the burden they had previously put on the group in both versions. I noticed also that this seems to be a trend for characters that are not that contributing to the group and only cause more trouble than benefit they kind of meet awfully crappy fates. Lori and Lee's deaths drove me close to the water works and will stay in my memory and Beth, Herschel (TV) maybe Glenn (TV) and Carlos from the game had shocking deaths that maybe jarred me for a bit because I wasn't expecting that to happen.

  • Ben because he was just a teen. Yes he made mistakes and I admit I at times wanted to slap him silly but I still really liked him anyways. Also he could've got better as he got older and learned lessons from his mistakes. I think he would've learned to protect Clem had he had more chances. Poor Ben :'(
