TWD Michonne was almost really good
It was good, in my opinion. For what it was, it told the tragic tale of grief and suffering amongst the destruction of a community in the wake of an ambiguous and overall morally grey situation that the player and Michonne just enough stake in it to be intrigued but still go their own way or care about themselves.
There are some really great moments and details in it and there are two things that would have made it better.
- The episodes are longer
Having the episodes just be 2 hours instead of 1 would have been a lot better, more slow paced scenes and time for these interesting characters to have room to further develop and breathe.
- Michonne isn't the main character
Change a few details about the main character and really Michonne doesn't have to be the main character. She's tied down by her comic book counterpart and so decisions such as staying with your daughters at the end don't have as much weight as they could. As well as this get rid of most other comic book counterparts like Pete and such and just change them, replacing them with these new "original characters".
- Have this DLC play a big role in Season 3/ANF
This should have been the DLC that introduces the main group of characters for Season 3 and depending on your choices (such as how you treated the characters, Oak/Sam dying, etc.) effects what kind of group Clementine comes across in Season 3. I love Javier, and so maybe this story could have been all about him and the others such as Gabe and such but who knows? Clementine should have still been the main character but something like this miniseries would have been a good way to introduce this gang of characters and have them quickly developed.
Still love Michonne however so y'know

Michonne kinda fell apart for me mostly because of episode 3. There was a lot wrong with the game in all honesty though.
To start off though, I dont think the length was that big of a deal for Michonne. Yeah its annoying to not get as much play time, but it was a mini-series so I cant really criticize it so much for being short. Also I loved the art style, it makes me really sad ANF threw away the old look, considering Michonne had the S2 look just amplified and it looked great.
I would say I have 3 main issues with Michonne:
Forgettable plot and characters
The plot is basically you get caught up in some community's mess. You then escape it and cause it to fall, now they want to kill you. Thats pretty much the plot. Sadly all the characters were pretty forgettable, only stand outs for me were Randal and Norma. I mean who could forget Buerto? You know the guy who like, said excuse me..... like once.... great character! Then he dies rip. John, hello how are you? Oh shit bye guys ;(
Player has no connection to Michonne's daughters
Sounding like A New Frontier up in here... the Michonne daughter dreams were just annoying to the player. We as the player do not care about Michonne's dead kids, we just dont, we arnt Michonne. This problem with pre-established relationships carried into ANF but atleast those characters were alive. No matter how you try, you will never get a player to care about your hallucinogen dead kids. There is a reason why no one stayed with the daughters with that last choice, the player has no connection, we dont care about them, and we just cant relate, so theres a huge disconnect from the player and Michonne's character.
The trade deal at the end of the game
This still confuses me to be honest. This was a mini-series that would never be revisited again. If you kept Randal alive, and you trade him with Norma, there should have just been an alternate ending where no one fights. The fact they make Randal start to strangle Michonne with his 10 broken fingers was the dumbest thing I have ever seen and was just there to force them to fight. Was it too hard to just make a second ending where they go their separate ways and actually make players feel accomplished and have an ending based on their choices? I guess Telltale really wanted everyone to get to the scene about leaving the daughters or not, which again, does not work.
Still better than A New Frontier honestly.
I recently heard it was gonna act as an introduction to Javier originally, but they decided to make it about Michonne instead.
Pretty much lmao
After I finished Michonne my biggest fear was ANF would be similar, and it was, just cranked up to 11.
