I hope we will see the reunion scene for Clem and AJ before the timeskip

edited April 2018 in The Walking Dead

So far I am intrigued by the news for the final season. I'm relieved that the entire season won't be one big goose chase. I think the timeskip was a great idea because it will make AJ old enough to interact with and get to know on a deeper level. However, they really were building up a reunion for Clem and AJ in ANF. I hope we will get to see them reunite at the very least before the timeskip.

They don't need to make a big deal about it, it could just be the first 5-10 minutes of the game and I would be satisfied.

I hope too,but i have a feeling Clem is gonna lost AJ again (Best mom of the year) and then we'll be on our own again.
Hope i'm wrong, just don't skip the reunion it's the whole point of Clementine story in ANF after all.

  • I hope so too.
You don't just set up shit like that only to skimp out on actually fulfilling. Again.

  • On the one hand, I agree, but on the other hand - put yourselves in Telltale's position after seeing the forum's reception to ANF. Lots of people treat ANF as the step child of the Telltale series, and after New Frontier's cliffhanger, people on the forums were vocal about complaining how Season 4 would consist of a goose chase for AJ without a lot of other story potential.

In their eyes, they probably saw that feedback and figured skipping straight to the new story would be a good response for the people who were worried about S4 wasting time on the "finding AJ" plot and having remnants of New Frontier attached to it.

I'm glad that there is going to be a timeskip and that the final season won't be one big goose chase, but I still think they should acknowlege some of the build up to a certain degree. Like I said earlier, I don't want them to make a big deal out of it. If they just include a short 5-10 minute scene at the beginning of the episode of Clementine arriving at the ranch and finding AJ it would be perfect.

  • I bet it will be like the season 2 opener, it will start right we’re the last season ended and 1 deadly confrontation later than there will be a time skip

  • Yeah, that's what I'm hoping for.

  • Based on the info given, it doesn't seem that they will, it will start right with the time jump and AJ will be with us. No big reunion, no heartfelt reconnection, no anything. AJ's just there, really anticlimactic.

  • But you still set something up, the least you can do is follow through with it in some manner. That was literally the whole point of having Clem in ANF, and the season ended with her going to look for him, and they can't even bother making a 5 minute reunion scene. That makes the S2 ending resolutions seem like well thought out and impactful consequences of our choices.

They don't want to write a season, or an episode, about a goose chase, fine, I get that, but you have to include something, they're sort of obligated to do so if you ask me.

  • I also really want to see them together too.

  • How about a flashback for this scene?
When Clem and AJ meet these other kids, Clem can tell them how she cared for him before being separated. Then we can play out how they were reunited.
They could even have the flashbacks throughout the season if AJ is not at the ranch. Or, he could just be there, Telltale has options here.

  • Tbh I don't care about AJ so if he's not shown with clem right off the bat I won't mind....I just want the story to be good and not all of it about clem searching for AJ agian ffs.....

  • I'm honestly uncertain about which way I'm leaning towards. If they don't show it, I can potentially pretend ANF never existed and go straight from S2 to TFS in any future play throughs, should nostalgia strike. If they do, then at the very least there's some payoff to her arc in ANF. I'm still not really buying into the whole renewed faith in groups after a few days of hanging out with some rando and potentially seeing more than half his family/group die during that time erasing how they established years of loss turned her into a psychologically damaged loner, so the less said about that the better. Not acknowledging it could feel like they're just making the same mistake they made with ANF, though, jumping from game to game with minimal connection to the series in order to favor independent stories rather than a larger, continuing one. It's gonna be interesting to see what direction they take handling the opening episode.

  • I bet Mccaroll Ranch is in Telltales cut content. They are rehashing A New Frontier. At least give us a introduction scene in the opening Episode of 401 showing Clementine reuniting with AJ at the Maccaroll Ranch for around about 10 minutes. But knowing Telltale, they can’t be bothered to make design/make the Mccaroll Ranch. If Telltale don’t show them reunite and Mccaroll Ranch does not appear, this means that Clementine’s, A New Frontier story was useless, then again it basically was lmao.

Well, at least by providing us closure, we know that telltale did the smart thing here. That's one thing a lot of people were worried about was that we wouldn't get closure regarding AJ. Yet the fans STILL complain.

  • People were worried S4 was going to be all about finding AJ. No one wants that. It's possible to want a short 5 minute reunion scene and not want a season focused on finding AJ...

@OfficialMonkey Yes. I understand that, but it's already been confirmed that we're gonna see AJ in the first episode. Telltale has ALREADY proven me RIGHT about that.

    I agree.
