Why do people like Kenny?
I have my own opinion about Kenny and won't voice it hear unless asked. I'm just curious why he is so liked. I'd appreciate candor.

Here's a number of reasons I gleaned
Torridd my man, you've voiced quite a few opinions already in a few situations involving Kenny on the Jane is disturbed and unpopular opinions thread (in which no one asked you to) and judging from some of the stuff you have said, i'm willing to make the assumption that your opinion of him isn't very high lol.
@DabigRG has summed it up pretty well. Pretty much everything he said and a lot more. The fact that he is basically the engine driving both season 1 and 2. His amazing character development, especially season 1, the amazing scenes he was involved in throughout season 1 and 2. His ability to execute the dramatic, the hard hitting scenes, pretty much to perfection. I mean there is just so many reasons why people liked him.
This
Because Wellington ending, that’s for sure. Second time I cryed playing WD.
And the scene with Ben, when he last appeared in S1.
Because powerful mustache
I love how I said most of that with a thin veil of snark and disapproval, then everyone went,"...Yeah, pretty much."
Oh and also because he's the only one who genuinely seems to care about Clementine's well-being in Season 2
He's like an asshole friend who has a heart of gold but needs attention in s1.And in season 2 and 3 he's like a bad father with good intentions for you and your loved ones....yeah that's enough for me to like him.
Because I think that he's one of the most lively, dynamic, exciting and realistic characters Telltale has ever created. The Walking Dead is hard to imagine without Kenny. We all have different opinions on him, and even I don't love him 100%, but Kenny is more than just a character at this point. He's a symbol.
Exactly. He represents putting family above everything else. Kenny would be willing to do anything for Clem in S2. Another reason I like him is he doesn’t allow/stand for bullshit (like Arvo, Carvers attack on the lodge, heading back to Howes, and Jane).
Eeeh...I definitely wouldn't say the only one, but whatever.
Dare I say believe Kenny being in season 2 weakened both Season 2 as a whole and Kennys character in my opinion and should have never happened?
because he's relatively c***********, probably
Your opinion which is fine but for me personally Season 2 would have been even worse without him. I felt it needed more Season 1 characters around anyway. They shouldn’t have got rid of Omid and Christa so early either
Exactly. He speaks his mind and that’s one of the reasons people hate him and yet that is honesty. I can’t stand people who just nod and say yes to every decision the group makes without giving their own input or are afraid to speak out to avoid hurting people’s feelings
This has been said by quite a lot of people. To me he was just as good in season 2 and in some ways even better. His introduction also took the story forward. Before Kenny arrived, nothing was really happening apart from the group running away from Carver. He arrived at the right time.
Getting rid of Omid and Christa is the most baffling decision to me, and I cant in any way figure out why Telltale thought it was a good idea.
Christa and Omid are the only real ties to Season 1, and its nice to have some ties to the past, even if Lee is dead. Not to mention that they literally have 2 characters fulfilling the exact same roles as Christa and Omid down to Rebecca being pregnant, they could literally have replaced Alvin and Rebecca with Omid and Christa and had a better game
Couldn’t agree more. Check out the thread i made ages ago! It’s very long but i put my heart and soul into what i would have changed about Season 1 and 2.
https://telltale.com/community/discussion/107458/what-changes-to-deceased-determinant-unknown-characters-would-you-make-if-you-could-change-things/p7
Uh, not really. Okay, Rebecca maybe, but Alvin is a considerately different type of character from Omid.
Plus, they also just do kinda like what Old man dan did in his thread and take more advantage of the timeline.
Kenny is the nuts and bolts that make the Walking Dead work, just as important as Lee and Clem to the franchise . not manufactured to move the player in a direction just very organic and real.
My view towards Kenny is that he is a good guy towards Lee and Clementine. He is caring to those who care about him and he highly values loyalty. I can relate to Kenny as I am a bit of a hothead myself and I do value loyalty from those who I care about.
In Season Two Kenny is a lot more on edge which could very much be due to the ever present paranoia of walkers getting a hold of him when he least expects it, a group of survivors attacking him and his family and trying to care for Clementine and the other survivors.
It is clear that the losses he had faced in Season One took a massive toll on his mental health which is evident in Season Two. But Kenny himself does acknowledge it and says to Clementine that he is trying to fix it. Change may not happen overnight but eventually, when given time, progress can be made.
Which brings me to A New Frontier. Kenny seems to be a lot calmer than he was in Season Two. I believe that this was due to the time he spent with AJ and Clementine. Maybe he realised that for the sake of the children he must keep his temper in check. Or maybe spending time with the people that he loves led to him "letting go" of the pain he had suffered and held in for so long.
So to summarise my points above: I love Kenny. I wish he never died in A New Frontier as I loved him so much. I am grateful that Telltale Gave us flashbacks to say our Final Goodbyes to a character that is loved by many.
I hope my post makes some sense. I am sorry if my use of language is all over the place
I like how I decided to make a thread about A New Frontier and people groaned that the game's been out for 2 years yet no one objects to the umpteenth billionth Kenny thread
but hey myself included! carry on
Which is why he more or less hijacks Season 2, notably changing the possible ending to Christa's suggested Wellington and having the [second to(?)] final choice be about whether to shoot him.
Believe nothing, that's pretty much what happened.
?
Old man Dan? How old do you actually think i am?? ?
Kenny seems calmer and a lot more composed in the ANF flashbacks(all two of em) because he fully recognized he had serious friggin problems at the end of Season 2 and was even more willing to let Clementine and AJ go if it meant they'd be safe from him as well. Their determinant choosing to stay afterwards meant that they got to see him truly temper himself, with the likely less stressful times helping.
"Old" enough to be around during this game's heyday.
Though now that you mention it, I think I do recall mentioning being round 40 once.
I’m 31. As my username is my date of birth
Yes that and because he had people around he didn’t particularly like or trust. Clem was the only one he truly cared about and then AJ too when he was born.
Damn the more i look back at Season 2 the more i really wished Lee was alive for it. I’ll tell you one thing, i bet Lee would have kept Kenny under control during his worst moments due to the history they both had good or bad relationship.
I bet if Lee was alive, things probably would've panned out better in general.
I bet Lee could've been a more interesting [whatever Season2!Kenny's role was] as well, but then again, it's better to let sleeping dogs lie.
Kenny is a whining little bitch, honestly, who throws tantrums at a little girl when they are a middle aged (supposedly) "badass" man? He needed to be put down and Jane was the perfect excuse. Lol watch everyone attack me for putting a different opinion
Edit: Before anyone does, don't use Jane against kenny in his defense, this is about his character, Jane wasn't the cause for his foulness so making points about Jane just shows you are ignorant and naive. Jane's a bitch.
Sooo...fuck em both?
They are both troublemakers,so yeah fuck them both i guess.
And i'm talking about Kenny and Jane in season 2 not in A New Frontier,i never liked Kenny's portrayal in A New Frontier same for Jane.
You're obviously new here because what you have said is just baiting people to cause arguments. Your opinion is shit by the way lol.
And to the people who liked this guy’s post, hang your heads in shame.
Yeah..How about you calm down a bit @dan290786,he has a different opinion,i get it it's hard to accept that.
He's also not new here.
Same.
Though that's pretty giving too much credit in the latter installment.
Let's please try to be more civil in arguments instead of going straight for insults. Thanks.
...and, although this post was not flaming any user in particular, comments phrased like this (even if generalized) don't make for good or civil discussion. So, yeah, let's please not phrase our comments like this either.
Do not concern yourself with such Jane worshipping scum brother! For our holy lord and savior shall soon deal out their eternal punishment and crush the non believers under his wrath!
