Because a plot where the motivation is rescuing a baby the game has given the player little reason to care for other than his association with characters from times where the story had better writing would be shit as hell.
It'll also be cool to be able to go into TFS without having to consider any of the ANF events canon.
I kinda think we're gonna get a short prologue, like we have the past two season, that will show the rescue of AJ and somehow tie into the overall narrative.
I think that he was living at that boarding school all that time. If I’m not mistaken, it was David’s wish to take him away from New Frontier. That’s it.

Tbf an entire season of reuniting with AJ would be very predictable and a lot of people were already complaining because they don't really care about finding him in the first place. I hope we at least find him via flashbacks but this way we can at least have a fresh adventure while actually getting to know the kid.
This. In the footage shown the guy said that was a pretty important scene in the game and she is all surprised seeing the community, then she finds AJ and runs to him to give him a hug and starts crying.

What do you mean retcon? Maybe I'm wrong, and the footage may not make it to the actual game, but that scene seemed to show that AJ and Clem weren't together for quite some time, since Clem is walking all slowly and seems kinda shocked and relieved, and then when she finds AJ and she runs to hug him.
That doesn't mean she spend 2 years searching AJ, maybe that happened 1 month after ANF and in the game we get time jumps through episodes, I would love that, S1 did it and it felt a much longer game and It was better to show that the group knew each other for quite sometimes, imagine if S1 would have been one day each. Clem and Lee met each other for 5 days.
And I'm pretty sure even Lingard wouldn't just leave a baby with a community of children
Ya know I'd love to think the adults in this game think a bunch about the welfare of babies and children but they did kick Clementine out on her own in a dangerous world over medicine that Lingard abuses consistently. Maybe it was the fact that Clementine wasn't really anybody's kid nor responsibility but most adults would consider doing the morally just thing I'd believe like Lee. Also Kenny from season two determinately allows Clem and AJ to venture off alone in the treacherous blizzard because he agreed with a kid that he was unstable. The adults in this universe put nearly adult portioned faith in children especially if their name is Clementine. Why even let Clem drive stick shift at full speed on her first or second day of learning and a motorcycle on her own? (Looking at you Javier and Kate).

To be fair on multiple accounts, Clementine was a newbie that did blatantly disobey orders, David keeping AJ was sort of for the best since him being sick(seemingly fatally) would likely lower his and Clementine's chance of continued survival, and both Ava and Lingard tried to get Clementine another chance before conceding that keeping AJ would be for the best.
And I doubt the medicine Lingard was using(if he was doing so) was anything like Vacyumicin.
Besides, I'm pretty sure the Boarding Schoolisn't McCaroll Ranch.
The adults in this universe put nearly adult portioned faith in children
Yeah, pretty much. But on some level, they kinda have to at some point.
especially if their name is Clementine.
But of course. Even if they barely know her.
Cause that's realistic.
and a motorcycle on her own? (Looking at you Javier and Kate).
To be fair, she's not their kid, she's already implied/proven being capable of driving, and they were all on a timetable.
And I'm pretty sure even Lingard wouldn't just leave a baby with a community of children

Aside from the medicine what orders did she disobey that deserves banishment to bandits and walker territory? She's also immature and while wise sometimes she doesn't seem to understand actions and consequences entirely . Like the Eli situation shooting at Badger while Francine is hostage etc.. wanting to kill Lingard just to get info on AJ she's mostly a kid still with a bit more growing up to do. She ought to of had got a second chance and if she consistently kept defying orders then get harsh....Kicking her out as though she got someone killed on purpose wasn't really right. Carver wouldn't have done that. Maybe smack her around a few times ( well on 2nd thought the more vicious NF Clem wouldn't let Carver fully get away with smacking her but just talking about Carver to David here.) But David wouldn't let Mariana go out alone I doubt. I think a fitting punishment would of been to make Clementine go out into scavenging for more meds to replace what she took and allowing her to come back only when she finds more to show her the importance of rationaizing scarce vital supplies. Also if Clem was thinking straight and concerned about her and AJs safety she should admit fault and beg to stay instead of spit in Davids face if chosen. Atleast I felt pleading to stay should of also been one of the valid options during that already awkward scenario. Bottom line David was out of line for kicking Clem out in my belief and I'd had made Javier or Clem punish him somehow for it if optional. Though I still somewhat was fond of Davids character at times most times he was annoying or just dumb or narrow minded seemed like.
To be fair,
Nooo be unfair, and Clemmy is not their kid to look out for but I get the feeling they'd atleast root for what's in her best interest which would involve her wellbeing by giving her advice though yes they cannot make her do anything just help with her periods. ?and I don't even know how she learned to possibly ride a motorbike ? from Kenny or Jane or by herself when she barely learned stick shift right. What I feel is going on here is TTG wishes Clem was like 25 or so canonically and then they go and give her roles as if she is fully grown though she is far from it. Things might make a lot more sense and believable if Clem was around Janes age.

I guess everyone already gave a good enough answer: there's better things to focus on. That being said though, I'd like it if there was at least some little 5-10 minute prologue that shows her finding him, or at least the initial reunion. Then skip ahead to them on the road and go from there.
As for the other discussion about Clementine and AJ's hug in the E3 footage we've seen, I think there's probably a simpler explanation to that. AJ and Clementine probably end up getting separated early in the episode, and AJ ends up at the boarding school. Eventually, Clem either finds her way there, or is found by one of the boarding school kids, and is led back. Cue the scene with her and Marlon, her entering the school, and the hug/reunion with AJ.
Might not be true. I have a feeling previous choices influence Clem's personality. For example if you stayed loyal to her for most of Season 3, she may have more choices that allow her to stay loyal to a certain character.
Huh, I’d support something like this. The events of past seasons are far removed now, but this would make sense and I suppose it’ll satisfy many players.

My view is that if Season 3 had no effect on Clem at all, she wouldn't have been in it and it wouldn't have been labeled a Season. Every Season so far has had some type of effect on Clem.

Edit: TBT ANF’s 42 Clementines though.

Nah, AJ was at a ranch not a boarding school. And I'm pretty sure even Lingard wouldn't just leave a baby with a community of children
They could have made a whole season of rescuing and finding AJ but no they instead just time skip it lol like its nothing
Because Telltale has a habit of panicking and backtracking on stuff that isn't easily done or won over.

Isn’t it funny how none of your past choices can logically affect this season?
