Wouldn't surprise me. TT is a company after all & companies love all this bollocks. Getting their fans all riled up over something or trying to shock & surprise them with a release. It's all PR/marketing crap that I can easily do without, but meh... At least we get the game.

Yeah, it is all for PR. I understand things have to be kept a secret, but they could just say "" It's not announced" not "We don't know yet" when they clearly do!
It would be easier to just announce a release date in the first place in my honest opinion.
They could have easily said "We're not sure when it will be ready exactly, but we're hoping to announce a release date next week, but we can't make any promises." or something along those lines.
All this "We'll let you know as soon as we can." stuff, to me, just reads 'You will know the release date as soon as we announce it on the blog or the main page, same as everyone else. No special treatment for you guys.'

That's exactly how I feel. They just try to evoke sympathy from forum members, "They're working as hard as they can" etc. Kinda like fanboys almost.
I'm going for 19th, I'm very optimistic about this. Still, it wouldn't surprise me if that countdown was just a trick to make us believe Chapter 3 will be released on that day.

Nope. It's a release countdown. And is that a midnight release? I can't be arsed calculating the PST time.
But like woah. Holy PFfft. I made a bunch of angry posts on a messageboard, complaining about wanting a countdown timer. And it happens.
Mwahahahahahahahaha! Telltale rock!
Soon, I shall make a post, demanding everyone send me money! And then it will happen! All due to the magic of the TTG forums!
And soon... the world shall crumble... by my hand...
You're right, if this is coming out saturday, they have been lying about now knowing the release date.
No. This means they have been planning to release it at TLAP day, but may have been unsure if they can make the deadline. Instead of giving us a 'maybe' they decided to give no date at all. How is that lying?
Quite frankly I really LIKE companies pulling stuff like this, cause it keeps you excited & waiting in anticipation.
I remember the days when Phantasialand (amusementpark; Germany) were building a few of their latest rides. Whole forums got riled up over 'WHAT COULD IT POSSIBLY BE!?', since it only said 'Coming 2009'. Even attempting to compare the concrete structures that were photographed, with other rides from different parks all over the world, trying to figure it out. That's brilliantly done, in any case. (Don't take me for a fool; I see a difference between theme park speculation & an episodic game that we all paid for; but you get my drift PR/marketing wise)
I do believe they have something evil-y 'planned' for that Talk like a Pirate day, can't wait ^.^
As others have said before, as charming as it would be to have a release on Talk Like a Pirate Day, it's on a Saturday this year. Shoot for that Friday (the 18th--though that's not looking too likely, IMHO) or the Monday afterwards (the 21st), instead.
no, idiots for giving away a opportunity like that!! Releasing a pirate game on the talk like a pirate day is not something you get to do any time you want... unless you want your fans to wait a lot of months for a game. It's like releasing a Christmas game 2 weeks after christmas... why would anyone do it? If the ,,Talk like a pirate day,, was more international you would now. But for Monkey island fans and Pirate fans it's really important.
Damn NoE!!!!
It's pretty probable that Chapter 2 (for WiiWare in Europe) will be available only a day before than Chapter 3 (for PC worldwide).
What will be next? Release European WiiWare Chapter 3 several days after the Chapter 4 PC release? They don't even translate it, why such delay between US and EU Wiiware releases?

i don't think they translate and do that... they probably send the game to Nintendo and they do the rest.
Damn, just two days off! Oh well, I'm just so glad it's coming out and we've already got screenshots and a "I wonder what happens" flash vid from Majus! I've been spoiled this fine morning! I'm really lookin' forward to episode three : )
To be honest i think i might actually wait until the November release of the final chapter and play all the episodes together, I'm bored of finishing an episode in a few hours and waiting ages for the next one to be released it totally kills what made point and click games so enjoyable in the first place.
When i solve a puzzle i want to be rewarded, not punished with a 5 week wait to see what else awaits. If i've solved the final puzzle and the game ends, fair enough, i'm rewarded with a finale sequence and i've spent weeks (possibly months) enjoying an insanely difficult and humorous game. With this, i get the odd chuckle and i'm done in 2 - 3 hours, then left hanging.
Episodic adventures are far too disjointed and easy to complete. It's time we were given a real challenge, like back in the day. Make my brain hurt, make me scream and my monitor and chuck my mouse across the room.
I know people are stoked that monkey island is back, but at what cost?? Escape was lame, 3d adventure games generally fail where their predecessors kicked ass and although tales seems is slightly better it doesn't come close to the first 3.
All the characters look the same, the sound is gash, there's loads of bugs and glitches and the list goes on. I'll play it as i've paid for it but, give me pixels and midi sounds and i"ll take it over this, i don't care if i have to read the text!
To be honest they could have released it in 3 months time for all I care, all that matters is that the finished product is another quality adventure.
To all those annoyed that's it won't be out until the 29th:
Q: Do you know what happens when a game is released before it's ready?
A: Knights of the Old Republic 2 is what happens. Driv3r is what happens.
In short, they didn't build Rome in a day
Kotor2 was allright!
But I could get very far in it, as in the big areas it kept glitching up and exiting, even though my computer should have been able to run it. I got a new Pc, but I never got round to it cos of all the bugs.

And that countdown doesn't show up in IE.
But yeah, a weird thing to countdown to.
Wonder if they have chapter 3 planned for Saturday & if so, I wonder why they haven't told us anything?
If it does come out Saturday then you know TT have just been stringing us along & the whole story of them letting us know as soon as they know is BS.

But yeah, I agree with you 100%.
I'm still going for the 28th. 19th, despite being the best day for it seems unlikely (note to self, make a video this week ^_^)

How exactly do you know it's a release countdown?
It could just be a countdown to talk like a pirate day?
If they are still not 100% they will be able to release on that (or any other specific) day why announce it?
Countdown to the release announcement perhaps?

6? It's 14 now.... smells like someone may have been cheating :P
That's lame.
Yeah, a date is cool.
Should have been announced earlier!

Oh wait.
Now I see.
nvm
That's why I made it a point to say how many votes were there.
1 day 20 hours & 16 mins is Saturday. 12am Saturday. It's the first moment it will be Saturday.
Congrats on your successful 1st post.
Looking forward to it though, 12 days to go
I won't and I care. And what now?
Nor I want this to happen.
But it will be much better when they finish this. Which will probably happen this month : )
You don't have to be rude about it. I didn't know it was GMT. I thought it was PST.
Sorry, I can't help it.
The countdown is regionalised so it counts down to pirate day no matter where in the world you are.
