Any of that childhood urge back?

edited September 2009 in Tales of Monkey Island
It's Monkey Island after all, whose caught up into the series like a kiddy 5 year old running off of the school bus to go play dos games on the family computer?

Though of course things are different now, it's hopefully not the same computer, probably your own and you're not five years old mentally and still taking a yellow bus to school...Though since life is hard we won't judge you.

Anyone feel a repressed love for these games? Anyone struggling to fall back into the monkey love? Anyone full of monkey love?

Yeah, TOMI brings back huge memories of curse. Not that that's surprising...

But yeah, I feel nostalgic when playing TOMI. One of the reasons I love it so much.

Were you making a pun when you said "of curse"="of course"?

If so that was a nice touch. :)

Indeed I remember playing MI2, and jumping for joy after I solved something that had gamblers puzzle. Guybrush has his old threads back, and is back in action! I love it!

I was 12 when I first played MI, so no 5 year old kiddie love... but love nonetheless.

I only figured out the gambler puzzle after ScummVM was first released and I was able to play MI2 again... before that (played it multiple times) I just guessed until I got lucky, it was anoying, but after the intial "guess" it wasn't so bad to get one number correct after several tries.
But when I got to that puzzle years later I couldn't believe I didn't get the gambling system in the first place... this was SOOOOOOOOOOOO easy

ToMI definetily brought back MI into my life. Figures. I mean, I didn't play any of MI games somewhere since 2002. Replayed them before ToMI's first chapter, though out of order.

the blue coat, the beard, the returning voice actors, the graphical and music style , All those things from ToMI give a huge nostalgia feelings to the old dying fans :(

but also refreshing and full of unexpected characters or situations. starting with that annoying yet funny parrot :D he is getting more popular than Murray.

The thing I miss however, is that the interface doesn't allow you to choose between look, talk and pick. U would always hear funny comments from guybrush if u tried to pick up a "person" or talk to an object. Also it allowed you to do unexpected things such as picking up a DOG :D

Unfortuneately for me, I came into the game a bit late, so it was only a few years ago that I'd finished playing all the MI games. I was really excited when I heard about the new one, especially that it was from Telltale Games. However, since I'm only a freshman in high school, I still have to take the bus to school.
I'm not five years old, though you wouldn't know it from the way I jumped up and down when I heard the game was going to be released, and this is definitely not the same computer I played the other games on.
Some of them don't even work on my computer without Scumm.

The bug is well and truly back for me, it never left.:D

I want pixels and 2d :) for that really oldschool feel. I'm definetly not used to 3d yet. Basicly I only really liked MI 2 and the other games in the series falls under category "playable", except for MI 4 which falls under category "playable with caution".

:D I love that part of the original games, I always tried to use, pick up Elaine and other characters and their were so pretty funny responses. That was definitely a cool part of the games.

Yup seeing Elaine again definately brought back some urges (well not really).

I remember playing MI:1 and 2 when I was at school, It really was something that we talked about in the playground. I can't imagine being able to keep all those floppies without them dying nowadays.

I feel you there, in MI2 I think almost everyone tried to "pick up" Captain Kate Capsize. I loved the "I can't pick that up", or the random punch lines "eww" when you tried to pickup Governor Phatt. bring us something more like the old interface, better yet! Bring the old interface back.
