Like, the comic character was apparently shacking up with The Governor, if what I've been told over the years is accurate, so there's that. It's also worth noting that Larry was originally conceptualized as having been abusive towards her, so that protracted correlation was possibly in mind at the time.
And Lily being brought back now, with the upfrontness of the reveal in the trailer, inherently implies she has something to do with either the raiders who were at odds with the Ericson students, the Whisperers, or some other group.
So it's possible.
