Should skybound buy telltale

As a in-house delvolpers for there IPs or just let telltale close up shop once the final season is complete

  • Let them close Telltale. Then build a completely new studio with ex-devs.

  • Well, unless Telltale made games that were all about the Skybound comics (I dont really like any skybound comic other than twd) then it is not possible. What if Vertigo had a gaming division andthey bought Telltale to do contract work for TWAU2 contractually?!! What if, after that, HBO had a gaming division and bought Telltale to do GoT2 contractually??! Alas, Telltale became everyone's company, you just need to fund their projects and bam, but Telltale themselves are close to bankrupt and so they always will be because Vertigo/Skybound/HBO earn the money from their games.

Screw that, I just like to ramble like an idiot. But I hope Square or another publisher buys Telltale, and Telltale only make their own IPs/franchises. I'd like that.

  • I wonder what's going to happen to the assets for the other IPs, like TWAU S2. Hopefully not junked.

  • I am kind of hoping Warner could pick up both WAU2 and Batman since they are their babies anyway and the latter is more than distinctive enough from the Arkham games to exist.

  • If only ttg listened to their fans before this mess started.... season 2 twau would of appear in fall 2015 at the height of its popularity. To bring season 2 back to life even in 2019... the hype isn't there anymore ya know guys?

  • I'd assume nothing is going to happen to them since i really don't see anyone picking up the game to create and complete.

  • I don't think it'd be wise for Skybound to buy Telltale itself seeing how poorly they had been performing leading up to the studio closure.

    No.

If anything, I'm hoping for new studios to get inspired and make narrative-driven games and fill the void that Telltale has left.

  • A few already have as shown with games such as Life is Strange and Detroit Become Human. The only problem is they are console exclusives instead of broad releases.

  • Life is strange is not a console exclusive and never was, Quantic Dream games though... that's another story!

  • I meant more for Quantic Dreams in that regard. In my opinion they are the closets to a Telltale gamestyle out there.

  • They are even better than Telltale i would say, so many different determinant scenes and actions

  • Quantic Dream is older than Telltale. They're not new.

They're actually the pioneers of the modern interactive-narrative game if you ask me.

  • Telltale games created under better management sounds great as a fan, but like a nightmare for anyone interested in making a profit. Unless TFS sells like hotcakes I think TT's done for m8s

  • I agree absolutely, but that's the fact with most games in the same genre of Telltale's style.

  • Yeah, but too bad they're still stuck with David Cage. If the best writers of Telltale had the ressources to do something like Detroit..... man, that would be amazing.

  • Telltale wont be bought out theres no incentive. They dont own any IPs, all their talent was fired. All they would get is the shitty Telltale Tool.

  • The telltale tool isn't shitty, its just very very very out of date.

  • Tbh, finishing TWD TFS is all I care about, I already lost my interest in TWAU Season 2 because there aren't a lot of questions unanswered in the first season, the only one remained that way is Nerissa being the real Faith or vice versa.

I'd rather have a company close its doors with their last game being successful, unlike other closed companies.

  • I would honestly REALLY love to have that ''shitty'' Telltale Tool engine, i would love to have it as much as you Poogers want to have Rhys socks!

There's no Quantic Dream without David Cage (it's literally his company).

Detroit IMO proved David Cage can make a fully competent story from beginning to end, and all the memes about him should start to die down now. Really looking forward for what they have next.

  • Those memes, like you call them, will eventually die when he writes more than one passable story. Though Detroit is undoubtedly Quantic Dreams best game.

Funny enough: Detroit is also their first game where David Cage had a co-writer to help out. Make of it what you want.
