Clementines Mental State?

edited October 2018 in The Walking Dead

Hi Yall Its Jesus! Naw I'm f#÷king with you

Come on for real. I'm prolly all alone on this one. But Clems mental state has to be depressed. Despite the things she go through she manage to be strong. Seeing her parents as a zombie or walker, killing Lee her mentor father figure in a apocalyptic world, (optional) killing Kenny, watching people die brains splattered, facing dehydration, maybe starvation. Occasion zombies facing death. Maybe I'm reading to much into this. But her mind state could be scary. She enjoyed killing Lee, she wanted to kill Kenney because she wanted to be alone and do her own thing. Or she crashed the car being suicidal but only managed to only kill Kenny. ??Hmm. She realizes that she was wrong, grab A.J and left the scene. She happily killed Dr Linguard?? watched kenny beat a guy to death. Killing sorita out of for fun? This evil clem yall she raised a killer.....

Happy Halloween ?????

Depends on how you play. But Clem told AJ, "Killing is never fun or easy or to be treated so casually." She can't be a sociopath if she acknowledges that killing is bad. Lee tells her, "Killing is bad, no matter what." And she showed sympathy towards everyone who died in her groups. Lee, Kenny, Luke, Alvin, Walter, Nick, Sarah, Marianna, Brody, and Marlon. She has empathy. She's seen and done bad things but it was never for fun. And she regrets a lot of the bad things she's done.

  • I doubt she's a sociopath but being so young and witnessing death after death after death has to be hard on her.

I'd say maybe she suffers from depression or survivor's guilt, but that's it.

  • Oh how I love a halloween story tho. This is a horror game right?

I know clem is a poor girl stuck in a messed up world. I don't mean to put any dirt on my girl Clem. Just for fun ? what if she was mentality unstable. Most people around her ARE sociopaths...

  • She definitely has PTSD at this point.

Clementine is visibly depressed in S3 during that moment where she becomes vulnerable to Javi and everyone else over losing AJ. Depending on Javi's response, she can even appear suicidal and nihilistic.

TFS, in Episode 2, if you choose the "get it over with" option when Lily has the gun pointed at her head, she basically pleads for Lily to shoot her, and there's a very pained and sorrowful tone to her voice, like she feels as though she needs to be put out of her misery.

  • Depression, PTSD, suicidal ideation, and definitely survivor's guilt. Virtually everyone Clem has ever met is dead.

These are all visible symptoms in the undertones of Clementine's mental stability.

Regardless of what Lee told her as a blind, innocent child, Clem throughout the years -- even your "absolute moralist" Clem -- at the very least sees killing people as a necessary evil, given how common it must be existing in a lawless American post-apocalypse.

And on the other hand, Clem regardless is also never shown to particularly "enjoy" killing so she's not an absolute sadist either. (although I'm speaking too soon because in the very next episode we might actually have a chance to torture the shit out of Abel). My Clem sees killing as just another function of being alive like eating and sleeping.

  • Completely agree with this. Remember when AJ was annoyed and kicking a wall? Clementine had a reaction to that, she seemed to drift off and then snap out of it becoming annoyed.
Also the nightmares she seems to have frequently.

  • I thought I was the only one who noticed that. After everything that happened it's safe to say suicide may have crossed her mind. Or at least she can't be that scared of death

Idk if she was a killer still would be a good story lol. Couldn't she just walk away from Kenny instead of shooting him? She worried about him following her or sumthing? The question is are her intentions still good at this point. No one can be innocent in a zombie apocalypse not even Clem.

  • I don't want to see Clem die. But I've seen the "bad" options and I can see Clem having a hole different personality. Everyone she meet is dead or gone. The good Clem is strong mentally. I would have gone into survival mode at this point and said fuq the world

  • Ok but I remember someone pointing this out (can't remember who or what platform) but ANYWAYS

During the confrontation with Marlon, after you choose to appeal to Louis/Violet Clem will close her eyes before they step in and she does it again with Lilly or you can even have her beg to kill her. So it seems she's also at this point where she's suicidal but is only keeping alive for AJ.

  • She's killing these people because it's necessary. But what does it take from her? She's not a innocent girl anymore.

anyway my Clem is brutal and sometime cold blood, but she wasn't a phyco.

  • I'm not the only one who sees this stuff? Thank god. I don't want to harm Clems image or anything. But she crazy bro she watched a man get his head beaten by a crowbar. (Carver) but you gotta do what you gotta do in order to survive in TWD/Zombie apocalypse. I'm not trying to judge her just making an observation.

She's clearly depressed. That ending music in 2nd season was depressing af. It fits the story perfectly.

  • If there’s an option for Clementine to kill herself in the series finale...

  • She is tired...tired of running...tired of being hungry and tired of being tired. She has been taking care of AJ and worrying about keeping them fed. This is why the school is important to her. And she has found a potential partner to share her burdens with...Violet/Louis. She is depressed...but most of all she is tired. One of my favorite parts of Ep. 2 is Tenn's idea that there will be a time without Walkers, I had her say that was beautiful...and I believe that this was her sincere feeling.

  • Sum reason my Clem was Loyal. I only ask that you watch Clem kill Dr. Lingard on season 3. She kills him without really thinking about it.
Idk when I first played the game I didn't even watch the tv show. I thought Clem was a weird kid. Like that doll with the ?, name rhymes with Bucky...

  • Clem loved killing Lee, she bathed in his blood but they cut it out. :D

Come on man, Clem is a o:)

  • I would doubt it. They already said Clem isn't going to die. Adding the kill your self button would be WAY out of character. AJ keeps her strong and the people who she loved died so she could be alive also pushes her beyond her limits.

  • I'm sure pretty much everyone should be paranoid, trauma riddled, and twitching at the slightest inkling of danger at this point.

But you know, the game finds it believable that Clem can forget Lilly, who was with her when she was almost forced to eat a fellow survivor, when a guy got his head bashed in with a salt lick, and when the woman herself shot someone for no reason in front of her, so what do I know.

  • Clem is not a angel. But she's not evil. I'm just saying what if she was? What if you could make Clem evil by choosing bad options. Even win you pick bad answers she still seem nice... Reminds me of another game........I used to play long ago. Lol

  • Yeah not to mention Lilly gave Clem her hair ties. She still held on to them all this time. And she just forgot her shooting Carley or Doug. Lol I was expecting Lilly to be happy to see Clem. Seeing they were family at one point. Even if you let her in the Rv in S1 she steals the Rv lol what a bitch. I hope Clem beat her head with a bag of ice. Now that's cold.....

  • I guess it should be an option to make her Evil but it'd be like spitting on Kenny and Lee's grave. They did a lot to make her a good kid and they loved her. Clem is a hero and she loves before she hates just like Lee :)

  • Yeah true. I don't think they NEED to change Clems personality. She's cool the way she is. ?I like dark and evil plots to stories especially when they are about the main character. (I mean All these "good" guy good "girl stories get boring after a while but thats just me. Tired of Superman saving the day and doing the right thing...(I'm trying not to sound crazy) That's why I like TWD. Not to many good guys. Just killers. One guy kills for this reason one guy kills for that reason. Still a killer.

  • Basically. AJ is her only drive to do anything productive in the world. Clem losing him would be unimaginable.

Hold on, TT never said Clem is or isn't going to die. Where are you getting this?

If anything, it's going to be determinant.

  • True but lets face it they did throw in more then enough savage answers to paint a evil clem in my opinion. Remember when Clem shot that guy for giving her bold bullets? I like that Clem. Why not let your choices determine what type of clem you'd like to play? It's just a game.

  • Yah, almost every idle thought she has comes back to these sort of things, but with AJ around she is able to put those thoughts at bay and focus on caring for him and his troubles. If AJ were to die too there would be nothing to stop it all from flooding into her mind.

    Image from Gyazo
Just look at that. She would be more broken than Kenny if he were to die.

  • spoiler alert It's hard to find happiness in this story isn't it?Well. **SPOILER ALERT***she found Louis or Violet and she went for it (well depending on your choice she made good friends) It can't be easy to make friends her age in a hell of a world. Clem and AJ are a great team. Although..... you do get a few funny options in game to not care for AJ. Refusing to hold him and all that....
