    Twitter can be annoying.

Eg. some celebs twitter like this:

    Just woke up!

    Then: Just had breakfast!

But if used right, it can tell you some great stuff in a quick and effective manner.

I am glad you like my Batman reviews mate, and as for Moon...I am posting a review soon so you will know exactally what it is all about :) it was limited release but is an AMAZING film, the director (Duncan Jones) who I interviewed has a really good future ahead of him!

I think Moon is getting a cinema release in Australia soon actually!

Well, I'll deffo see it when it comes out here then. Gonna go to the flicks tonight maybe, but its just to see UP with some folks. (Which has been going a good while now, so nothing special there.)

I dont think I could watch it again. I thought it would be funny but not to spoil it, alot of the moments are just really of a sad old man whose all alone in the world now. (Hell, some of them were tissue moments.) Id call it a beautiful film in the sense that it was a heart warmer, very little comedy, a family flick of sorts. I could give you a rewview if you like but I don't want to spoil it for ya mate.

As I said, we shall talk :P But yeah that sounds about right. I wonder if it works a lot better in 3D due to the spectacle of it all...

Forgiveth me, I occasionally get the writers bug, lol. There were a few moments where the scenery and style we're almost breath-takingly well done, I imagine things like the house's first ascension in the city would make for good 3D viewing.

I do miss 2D traditional animation but I must say Pixar really have mastered CG filmmaking... it is amazing what they can do. Will be interesting to see if, as the effects get better and better, the storytelling itself improves or suffers...

They can perfect digital imaging all they want: if there isnt a decent structure, plot or half-coherent story, it'll be like building a house of jelly on no foundations. (Idea already pitched to Pixar.)

That's why I still watch (and recommend) Studio Ghibi's films. I don't think I have ever watched one I didn't like, and their 2D animation takes my breath away in many ways far more consistantly than Pixar's computer magic. Good examples are Spirited Away, My Neighbour Totoro, and Grave of the Fireflies.

Nice one, I love reading interviews with Dom simply cos he loves Monkey Island as much as the rest of us and isn't just some gun-for-hire. It made me sad when Rolf Saxon who voices George Stobbart in Broken Sword admitted he'd only played through the first game :(
aye a shame that, which reminds me.. do you think there will be another Broken Sword? I really hope so. Come to think of it I would love to see Telltale make a Broken Sword series of games.

I can see it yes, and in a similar digital only format. I have an interview with Charles Cecil coming soon so I will be sure to ask him! I was slightly dissappointed with Broken Sword 4...I miss the style of the first 2, which are classics in my eyes.

It would certainly seem to be a good fit, given that they've already revived 2 popular point-and-click titles/series from the 90s.

Oh please do ask! And tell him to get in touch with Telltale :)
  • edited October 2009
Haha I may ask, although I think Revolution are getting back on their feet with their own internal development. You may recall Broken Sword 4 was only designed by Rev Software... the actual engine (which will never run on a quad core system, what a joke) was all handled by Sumo Digital. I do agree though that with Telltale's help, Broken Sword could potentially be brought back to life. Then again, I would much prefer a huge 2D, final broken sword to wrap everything up in a love letter to the fans. We are in a Rocky 5 situation at the moment... we need one more story to end things on a better note.

I dunno.., I can honestly say 6 Star Wars and Star Treks mightve been a bit much. How many 3rd movies can you remember as being good?
  • edited October 2009
Yeh I agree with Star Wars and Star Trek. To me though, even with Rocky 3 and 4 being OTT, they were fun.

Rocky 5 stripped rocky of everything he achieved, leaving him brain damaged. It was a really bad way to end a series of films.

Rocky 6 isn't the greatest film in the world, but in my eyes it is the best comeback and felt right. Die Hard 4? Not necessary. Indiana Jones 4? Don't get me started. Rambo 4? Okay I enjoyed that, but it's not because I'm some Stallone groupie... I just think the guy knows what people want.

But yeah, I brought all this up because Broken Sword 5 doesn't NEED the lastest graphics, sound or whatever. It needs what we all fell in love with. 2D graphics. Rolf Saxon. Nico and George. Paris. Good music. Good length. Point and Click.

I think I remember reading somewhere that Revolution were thinking about redoing BS3 in 2D. Can't remember where though, could have been the Revolution forum but I'm not sure.
  • edited October 2009
I am a member there and don't recall that sadly. (Plus would seem a bit backwards? They always say 2D is too expensive nowadays anyway.) I do know that Beneath a Steel Sky is coming out soon on the iphone though...

Could have just been wishful thinking then...

martymcfly, I just read your interview with Duncan Jones. Great stuff! I loved Moon and can't wait for whatever his next project is (is it confirmed to be Mute? I remember reading somewhere that he was working on something else as well).
  • edited October 2009
Hi Jake, thanks for the kind words, means a lot! Mute is confirmed, although I also heard Duncan mention another film, Escape From The Deep...
  • edited October 2009

For anyone interested, I have just interviewed the great grand nephew of Bram Stoker (author of Dracula), Dacre Stoker (author of new sequel Dracula: New Blood.)

You can check it out here: http://alternativemagazineonline.co.uk/2009/10/12/interview-in-conversation-with-dacre-stoker-author-of-dracula-the-un-dead/

Thanks for all the support guys. Dom is pleased as well about the feedback on the monkey island interviews I am sure, was emailing him before :-)

Hey guys! With more Monkey Island coverage coming on my site this week, I was wondering if you could all please vote on the new design? You are all some of my main readers and your opinion matters to me!

Thanks mate, you like it better than the old design then?

Looks more modern and professional now.. I like it.

Both are fine. I lean a bit in favor of the old design,
but maybe it's the header on the newer one that is making me choose the old one.
Now if you reduce the size of your Fl!p sign a bit (less height)...
  • edited October 2009
Hey thanks for all the feedback! I think the large header will be good once I put the finished design in there... leaves a lot of space to put my own stamp on the design. Atm I agree looks a bit big, but then again it is basically just a block of colour!

Mad thing is, since putting the new design on, visits to the site have quadrupled... I have had a lot of feedback from people saying it is now easier to read and navigate... which means a lot to me! So I am glad it is all in place for next weeks new Tales of Monkey Island review/ interview with Dom. Btw, does anyone have a question they desperately want me to ask him that hasnt already been covered in the 3 interviews done so far?
  • edited October 2009
I shall just tell him that there is a 3-headed monkey behind him then :P
