damn he really does look like Guybrush... and his Robin Hood movie was great so ... he's got my vote.
The problem is, that film was about 16 years ago...I doubt he looks the same now.
I reckon for the ability to play the right age, its gotta be Justin Long. He could handle the humour and you can see him trying to claim to be a mighty pirate.
Neil Patrick Harris would have been perfect and almost just almost could pass for the right age, you know, if you squinted and tilted your head to the left!
Funny, when I first saw this pic I thought "No way!" But now, I can see it... Add a scruffy beard and it might just work!
But to be honest... I don't think Monkey Island would work as a life action movie with real people. Animation & original voice cast would be the only way.

if you ever see any of his stand up/tv apparences he acts quite like him too, very innocent in his nature
Are you kidding? I'm not a huge Orlando Bloom fan, but knowing that he's just a bit useless makes him seem like a better fit for Guybrush than I originally thought.
I was always a bit "meh" about Orlando Bloom until he appeared on Extras and did a great job making fun of himself. I'm still kinda ambivalent, but have to give him credit for not taking himself too seriously.
Wow I never noticed those "movie" posters! Those are fun. I don't know who the old guy in the corner is but his crazy eyes remind me of Emmett Brown.
Erm...I think that is Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown (in the old west, look at his clothes) with a Photoshopped beard. Wouldn't swear to it, though.
As for Orlando Bloom, I'd say that Jack was more the one who was acting like a Monkey Island character. "Look at gear. Look at goat. Use hot iron with goat. Use handcuffs with gear. Use Manual of Style with goat." Wait a minute...
And I agree, animated movie with the original voice cast is the only way to go. No matter what actor you find, it would never feel right without the voices of Dominic Armato, Alexandra Boyd, and Earl Boen. Just look at Escape (Charity James as Elaine) the start of Narwhal (Adam Harrington as LeChuck).
Though I would absolutely say that Adam Harrington came way closer than Charity James. But on the other hand, it's not her fault she was an American hired to do the voice of a character who's supposed to have a British accent.

"Never gonna give up selling these fine leather jackets..."
Check out this pic
Ryan Gosling would have the look if he shaved, but I've never seen him act in anything, so I don't know if he'd have the personality right.
whaaat? he's sort of feminine....
Yeah this kid looks like Guybrush From MI 1 already
Aaaww, look! He's even wearing that pirate chemise Guybrush wore in SMI. And he's got the original lovable dork looks on his face. *sigh* Cute.
Lucky this is a fantasy casting and so we can have him exactly as he was circa Princess Bride and Men in Tights
No, no, this thread is getting too silly...:D

As a Psych fan, I always thought he would make a fantastic Stan.

Woah... I never thought about that. Michael Cera would be the perfect
Guybrush...
I can't believe they let people like that out of the pond.....
We can't have someone with such an obvious flaw in their character play someone as awesome as Guybrush, sorry
You're right. If he was a bit more nerdy, I think Jesse Spencer would be great for Telltale's Guybrush...
He's even baggy under the eyes like him...
Have you seen the box art for Secret of Monkey Island? Guybrush IS a pretty boy.
For me this is perfect
Gubbler! YES! though if only he wasn't so smart -_-
Wow, Nice work.

I'm American too. :-)
