She's just a bit overweight... Or there's some mystery behind this scene.

Guybrush wouldn't be used to the extra encumbrance of Voodoo Lady's body. It's not an issue if you gain weight normally, but add about a hundred pounds instantaneously, and you're bound to be quite unsteady on your feet.

Of course, he'd likely be able to adjust in no time, but possession isn't exactly an everyday occurrence that one would handle logically. Not even the 'Brush.

I didn't think about that Imagine gaining a 100 pound right now and try to stand. I think you hit the nail on the head. I would have trouble standing, most probably wouldn't even be able to.

I don't think it has anything to do with her weight. It's rather the fact that she's been sitting down on a chair for so long time, that the muscles in her legs has been withered.
  • edited October 2009
Her keister is glued to that chair.

In fact, in MI3 she knows the secret key to reduce weight. Low fat, high fiber! (<- English natives.. is it fibre or fiber when talking about food? Or do they both work?)

    :)

although... "True muscles can never be destroyed!" .. or how was it? ;)

In secret of Monkey Island when she's in her chair at the International House of Mojo on Mélée Island you can see her legs and I'm sure they move, so my guess is she's not disabled.

well using this same theory, does this mean that when shes guybrush, she'd be able to run faster than guybrush as guybrush?
  • edited October 2009
Fat ppl sometimes need help to get up after they been sitting down for ages that might be what the back scratchers for like it doubles as a cain to help her up

i saw it as more of a pun. you never see her standing up so just a joke saying she cant stand up LOL

That's how I took it as well.... as a joke since you never see her standing.

As for instantly gaining 100 lbs..... yes, if YOU were to instantly gain 100 pounds, I'm sure it would be difficult to stand up because your muscles and balance are not used to it, but he basically just took over her body/mind, so her body and muscles should be used to it in which case it shouldn't be an issue. That's my theory and I'm sticking to it. :D

...... What an odd discussion...... lol

It's fibre. Americans tend to misspell it as fiber, though.

And you guys tend to misspell aluminum as aluminium :p (Now let's not do this again!)

Considering that the Voodoo Lady didn't even move a step in Guybrush's body either, maybe the spell prevents you from moving to far in the other person's body, for, you know, safety reasons.

Americans spell? I don't get it?

There are certain words Americans and the British spell differently, like tire and tyre, center and centre, disestablishmentarianism and popcorn, things like that ...

(The last two examples are a joke, but the rest are real examples)

    LOL! aww

I think you can't move while being controlled. If you notice, DeCava and Guybrush don't move while the Voodoo Lady is in them.
  • edited October 2009
Voodoo security? if someone posesses her the body cannot move out the nice ergonomic chair? Still I reckon she was expecting it. Why? You get the cards you need to get round it if and only if possessed by the right person.

Voodoo Lady, is stuck... She has a device, that makes the chair get far from her "desk", then she can stand up. As guybrush didnt know that, he couldnt stand up.

    Simple as hell...

Well she is a small boned elephant, that makes her Obese.

Realistically speaking:p, the Voodoo lady has been sitting and sleeping in that chair waiting for Guybrush for months, maybe years. She could've easily fused to it, in which case she would have to be cut out of it and the fabric surgically replaced by skin grafts before she can move on.

I guess that I would easily misspell aluminum in that case, since in swedish it's spelled "aluminium" .. So.. :D

Nah if she leaves, it will just be stolen out from under her.

Its possible she has spells or wards in place to prevent others from taking over her body completely by another with voodoo.... Or maybe she is just morbidly fat.

on a technical note I'm pretty sure TTG just didn't want to animate her walking and they didn't want you going out her door because then they would of had to include all of that island in the download files....... So their fix was to make it so that she couldn't get up...
