I personally don't like the way this effect works in higher definition (these episodes and the Monkey Island remake), when compared to the way it looked in the old low res sprites.
This version was better than the remake though, that version just too much like there was a hole in the plane the graphics were on and we were looking at a dodgy mesh background. I think it was something to do with their choice of colours.
^ So do I. Unfortunatly, that jacket is probably the most sci-fiy thing in all Monkey Island games, as I really don't see humanity developing the technology for it for at least another 200 years.
I was on the DC metro the other day and actually saw a guy wearing a VERY similar jacket -- entire suit, actually. Colors were off, but I was starting at it and staring at it and racking my brains about where I might have seen it before and then I remembered. My dear old friend Stan.
