I don't like De Singe. He is too much a stereotypical bad guy.
The script does a very good job in letting you wander about everyone's motives. Elane, LeChuck, Morgan and the Voodoo Lady can be suspected of double agenda's all though the episodes.
De Singe on the other hand was/is the same boring megalomaniac all the time. He is not even charismatic with his wimpy attitude.
I loves this episode and all the plot twists. I just think TTG could have done a waaaay better job with De Singe.

Yet allowing Elaine to say: "What else is she HANDY with?!" is alright? XD

I find it outrageous that Telltale would allow such a bug in Stan's coat! I mean, his textures don't move correctly! It's as if it's standing still!

Blood would probably push Tales into "M" territory, since it's already full of alcohol, sex and violence.

Besides, DeSinge mentioned that there was blood all over the place in his lab, so we just have to pretend...

If it turned 'M' I'd lose most, if not all, my respect for the game.

Was disappointed with this episode. Too short, quite easy (all the puzzles were very obvious) and only one location. The ending didn't have much impact consequentially, though I'm intrigued about #5 now... I hope it will be better. The others were.

He's trying to discover the secrets of immortality, for science. It's a good explanation, since he thinks the ends are worth the means.

    mmmmm Science.

I think he's pretty awesome actually. But maybe I'm biased because we can curse him with innumerable voodoo wedgies in ep.3.

Hey, the spoiler topic is getting too cluttered with arguing. So I'm making this topic for all the people who didn't like Episode 4 or any of the others, to talk about their complaints and why they dislike the game and its story.

I'm going to stay out of this topic myself, but have at it. And please, try not to start fights people. I'm partly saying this as a reminder to myself, because I tend to want to defend my favorite game series. ;)

So have at it, tear into the game like no tomorrow. You ungrateful bashers.

    you fight like a cow!

Why? That...makes no sense. Now granted, the VAST MAJORITY of games with the "M" ESRB rating are given it because they're marketing to teens and college frat boy types, but if they actually used the rating to create something compelling and dramatic? I've seen it done, many times.

Now, it would probably be a terrible financial decision, but I don't see how not limiting their content is a bad ARTISTIC decision.

Hmmm. What about a ToMI nude patch?
BRB... figuring out how to unpack and repack the game data archives....

All I'm mad about is that they killed the parrot. Though seeing as it has been melted and shaped into a turtle and still came back ok, I'm sure that being mashed into a paste will not remove it forever. If it does get reformed, i hope it doesn't get any of those De Singe particles mixed up. I do not want a pyrite De Singe Parrot.

How did De Singe actually end up having the parrot?
Guybrush lost it while being swallowed by the manatee, right?

As far as I know, the only known unpacker was discontinued several games before Tales came out, and it doesn't work.

So would De Singe like being chewed up into bits being a masochist and all?

It was meant for the sake of humor.

When I opened a thread calling people 'mislead sheep', I even got a warning from Telltale.
This is ridiculous. Go cry on somebody else's shoulder. No sence for humor and no backbone whatsoever.

I love this series by the way, especially the last two chapters.

    There wasn't enough cheese.

    Okay. There. I said it.

And also there should have been more gratuitous insult-flinging and conversations should have been concluded by sword-fighting to the death.

    For shame, TTG!

    *sniff* Okay.

BRB looking to see if someone tossed out a perfectly good shoulder I can use.

Hmm, that would be quite a revelation to see LeChuck's... What was Whizzer's real name again?
  • edited November 2009
I think this game needs more skulls and skeletons, a couple dozen every chapter isn't enough. We must have more suggested violence and death.
  • edited November 2009
I think if they gave LeChuck an undead pirate crew again it would go a long way to accomplishing that

Yeah that would do it. In all seriousness though, I think there is more than enough corpses and skeletons in the series. People seem to lose their lives in the Caribbean in this series as often as the earth spinning. Seems exceptionally easy to have one's life end by various means in Monkey Island games.

Well, if they made something like Dreamfall, I'd be okay. But usually games with an 'M' rating are needlessly violent. I was surprised when I started hearing Sam and Max like humor in TMI here. If they turned it into an 'M' game, it would probably be just as you said, "They're marketing to teens and college frat boy types." In my opinion, that's not how games should be.

"Didn't like" is a wrong word(at least, for me). More like "really disliked certain aspects". I liked it, but due to some really glaring annoyances it's my least favorite episode so far. Still nowhere near being considered "Bad", though. Just "Wow, I expected better".

...Oh, and the majority of the complaints in this thread are jokes.
