There seems to be enough interest for this to be do-able, even if its a small scale limited run of 100 pieces or so.

if theres a a limited run of 100 pieces then i call shotgun on the first model :D

Some Lost unofficial figures have been made by fans (ordered at a professional sculptor).

They are tolerated by Mac Farlane and ABC (copyright owner) but only to produce 40 pieces of each character, worldwide.

So if they do not want to produce anything, you could still find some kind of agreement.

But then it's LUCASarts, and you know they already went in justice against some little toys makers just because they were doing some stormtroopers...

i just posted up another thread to say that i saw Unofficial Tales of Monkey Island T-shirts being sold on Ebay, there is quite alot of other unoffical Monkey Island Items off ebay aswell...so i guess LucasArts will be cheesed off abit

I've emailed Telltale about doing this through the proper channels. We dont want any copyright issues! I'd love to work with them producing some official figures. Fingers crossed for some interest? Just need to crack on with my sample sculpt :)

If anyone wants to suggest a pose for Guybrush I'm open to ideas?

I kinda like this one myself.

Or maybe like this one just with both arms crossed? Or with the thumbs up I don't know :D

I would definitely buy one. I would but him in the Ninja Turtle Party Wagon next to Vegeta, Solid Snake and the Thing. It would be the coolest van EVER!

I'd take a Guybrush figurine. And one of Stan's jackets.

Another good position for a figurine would be Guybrush laying on the ground with the sword stuck in him. It would make for an awesomely depressing paperweight.

Yeah, I think that first image works well. It's iconic (most likely why Telltale chose it themselves) and it features in game. It would be suitable for manufacture and most importantly..... it would look ace on my desk! Im going to be away for a coupe of weeks over the christmas holiday but a decent amount of my time will be spent working on this. If I dont get to post on here much it's just due to no internet connection. I'll post when I'm able.

What about some sets (I have seen this Set/Part format with action figures from TV Series and whatnot)

Set #1: Guybrush, Elaine, Winslow, Stan (Accessories for Guybrush: Poxed Version, hook. Elaine: Poxed version, Demon Version. Winslow: Poxed Version AND a map. Stan sells previously owned accessories, plus Stan's hat)
Each character comes with a part of the Narwhal

Set #2: LeChuck (accessories includes: zombie form, ghost form, demon form), Human LeChuck (Accessory: Cutlass of Kaflu), DeSinge (accessory: Lefty Hat) and Murray (He doesn't need accessories)
Each character comes with a part of LeChuck's ship

Set #3: Voodoo Lady (Accessories: a set of cards), Morgan (Accessory: Dante Dragotta sword), Pyrite Parrot+Jacques Pack
Each character comes with a part of the Voodoo Lady's seat/desk and crossroads rug

Set #4: WP Grindstump (Poxed Accessory), Hardtack (Accessory: Wig), D'Oro (Accessory Dark Ninja Dave), BugEye and Hemlock McGee (Cat Accessory)
Each character comes with a part of Club 41

Telltale, I really think you want to get involved with these guys, they are superb.

And if not, why don't you team up with the LucasArts people that created the Guybrush vs LeChuck diorama.

but also you got to look at shipping charges, because i know theres alot of fans from around the world, who want anything Monkey Island, i so badly want the Guybrush vs Lechuck Diorama, but problem is that lucas arts shipping is really really expensive....its like $89.99 for the statue and $75 for shipping internationally

I'd buy one if it weren't too big or expensive. It'd be a great souvenir!

I'd love to buy Tales merchandise. A Murray paperweight would be pretty amazing.

Looks nice, but seems maybe the mouth is a little off? If you're going for absolute likeness.

that would be soooo childish... Unless you're 5 years old you need to grow up.

Anyone who still worries about the concept of "mature"/"immature" is immature (not in a bad way; it's just usually the case).

Hi, sorry for not keeping everyone up to date. Works been a bit complicated lately, redundancies looming, hence I've had to hold fire on working on this while I get stuff sorted. Rest assured though that I'm going to see this sculpt through although not as quickly as I had originally planned or would have liked. Thanks for your comments. I work with symmetry to begin with and adjust things like the fringe after I'm happy with everything. I'm trying to work with manufacturing processes in mind and Guybrush's hair is tricky. For a small figure his neck is also pretty thin. My thinking would be to adjust the ponytail and pull it in behind the neck to help strengthen this area. I hope to post some updates for you guys soon

Yay, my 3D-print (from Shapeways.com) arrived! It's about 15cm in height.

I am considering doing a colored print as well, but since the material of colored prints is a different one and much more fragile, I don't know if it will work with all the details. If not, I guess I'll paint this one.

    That's cool. Is it legal?
If so, would you order the other characters? :P I want to see them.
  • edited March 2010
I doubt that it's legal to make them publically available (or at least it would be a bigger concern for TTG and LA), so I won't do that. Right now I have only remodeled Guybrush to be printable, but maybe I'll do the others as well. But the first thing would be to paint him (or make a colored one, not sure about that yet).
  • edited March 2010
That's awesome! How much did the 3D printing set you back?

I wish Telltale would release figures like that for the main characters, I'd buy them whether they were painted or not.
  • edited March 2010
I didn't mean making them publicly available, just order them yourself and provide us with pictures.
I'm curious to see what they'd look like but I realise you can't very well sell them or provide us with a way to get our own.

Oh I see. Well, the others aren't finished yet. Maybe I'll do them some other time.
  • edited March 2010
Can you tell us how you ended up with that 3d print? Did you extract the model from the game, and if so, how?
  • edited March 2010
wow that is really outstanding, i think many of us want to do what you did, in order to get our own guybrush figurine lol
