Well maybe not a cliff-hanger, but an open end would be nice. Maybe just hearing LeChuck laughing after the credits are done or something like that (only less cheesy), it would bring closure to the current story but leave things open for a sequel. Always a plus if the ending is open to interpretation, than we have something to talk about until the next series is announced

Couldn't agree more!
I think when people say that TTG don't know whether they've got MI for another season or not it's probably a fair assumption - assuming this game has done as well as it seems to have then LucasArts will perhaps opt to move back into the genre, though admittedly their physically packing one big game probably won't prove quite as profitable as digital episodic distribution. Hope TTG keep giving us the piratey goodness just as they have been doing so far though!
As for the ending, I'd actually like to see a cliffhanger - if we knew for sure there would be more Monkey Island in the future. I'm sincerely hoping there will be, and I've even convinced myself there will be, but until its announced we can never be sure.
I think a tie-up of the TOMI story would be good enough for most MI fans, though some kind of assurances - or even something completely out of the box (e.g. Guybrush is returned to the land of the living as a 16 year old wannabe pirate on Melee Island) might be OK, though that example would bring a certain definite closure which I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with :P
