What format would you like the games be in DVD release?

This thread is not about DVD's release date, mind you.

So, anyway, I think the question is pretty understandable. Personally, I would like it to be one full game. Don't mind one full game with ability to choose chapters, though.

I can't say if it's possible, but one game with ability to choose chapter sounds nice... It would need an aplication which starts new episode with the end of previous one (and without credits).

I see it like this: They compile all the games together to run without stopping. You take out any repeats used in the previous chapter shown again for story reasons, and delete the voodoo lady's rants. Theoretically, this would give it the appearance of "A Full Game"

I chose 'One full game with ability to choose chapters' only because I love options. If I was forced to choose only as a full game or only as chapters I'd choose only as chapters. It's how the game was made and how it was intended to be played.

In fact it ain't. As the thread was opening, I wondered what you mean by "format":
    .EXE or .COM?
    4:3 or 16:9?
    NTFS or FAT32?
    Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS?
    ...

about your question: the original versions the games were released in, sans bugs, plus Earl Boen for Ep 1. I doubt you can "glue" the episodes back to back, as they have their own structures, long sections for puzzle solving, dramatic highlights and climaxes. Also, I would hate having to lose Voodoo Lady's intros, title sequences and Murray commenting on end credits in Ep3.

Murray could comment of the end credits of the WHOLE FREAKING SERIES.

They'd almost certainly have to redub it. A) the credits would be much longer and B) the people he comments on wouldn't be in the same spots at the same time.

Don't tell me it's not worth it :)

I think everybody would agree full game with ability to choose chapters is best, because this would allow us all to get our way.

If I had to choose, i'd say one large series. Because S&M pulled it off, but I think the story was a little different to the MI story. I can't really explain it, but the MI game as 1 big ep would feel pretty epic, and give a good chance for people to compare the feel to the other games (I think ToMI would benefit a lot from having the same format as CoMI etc.).

For me, the episodic way of playing it works fine when it's first being released. But if you watch a TV show on DVD, you don't expect the ad-break screens to still be in!

    I miss Murray already... :(

I think the "full game" idea is nice in theory, but probably wouldn't work in practice. And it would, likely, be a logistic nightmare.

Also, I would(for example) greatly prefer to get effort put into great extras. I think the idea of pasting things together is more of an issue for those that inherently hate the episodic format. For the work involved, I just don't see much benefit to me.

I still want a Klingon voice track though.

    I want a Thermian track.

Anyway, I wanted to pick full game with the option to select whichever chapter you want, but then you'd lose all the cool stuff like the Voodoo Lady openings and the Murray credit sequence in Chapter 4. I couldn't live with that. Unless the Voodoo Lady openings only come up when you select a certain chapter to start with instead of starting straight through the whole game, kind of a means of filling you in on what you missed if you don't start at the beginning. But then you still couldn't see the credit sequences so I'm torn.

Ultimately I'm ok with having just separate chapter games like S&M. It's a small price to pay, really. Not really a big deal to me, though it would be nice if a full game worked in some way to keep the extras in that would need to be cut otherwise.

To me the idea of a "full game" w/ chapter selection would indicate that if you select a specific chapter you're going to play only that chapter, which would allow the intro and credit sequences to remain in-tact.

I don't know about TTG's internal structuring of their games, but I'm not sure it would necessarily be too bad. If it were possible for them to implement a variable-check to by-pass the intro and credit sequences I don't think it would be too difficult to just run the next chapter automatically.

However the individual chapters so far do take a while to load on my system which would produce a very noticeable delay between chapters (for me). This could quite potentially be an issue for other users, so trying to find a balance between not slowing down the current chapter whilst trying to preload the next in the background could perhaps be a bit messier.

I'm not sure. And given my interpretation of the full game selection vs. chapter selection (above) this would also mean that save games would have to be managed separately as well. It wouldn't make sense for you to start the full game, play half-way through Spinner Cay, save, come back later, load only the Spinner Cay chapter, finish the game, and then have it exit. Perhaps the aforementioned hypothetical variable for tracking whether playing the full game or just a single chapter could persist within save games and thusly be restored upon loading a save...

Yeah I'm starting to see where this could be leading.

Tales is my first full season I've bought from TTG. The only other games I've bought is S&M:S1 E1-E3 that I got at Walmart for $10. I'd actually like to purchase more (I've played some of the other demos and things) but finances are tight, so. But anyway back to what I was saying, I don't have any experience with the season DVDs, but I think that if it came down to "Do you want the 'full game' experience or do you want more extras?" I would choose the extras as well. ;)
