I think the summery is already up (erm....more or less) and for the screenshots, I think they're going to do it a day or two before the actual release day. Or maybe seeing that this is (unfortunately) the last chapter, they don't want ANYTHING spoiled? That's just my guess.

Also, there has been a forum about who should return or poll format if my memory is correct.

    EDIT
Oh snap! The game just jumped on the awesome radar!!
Guybrush being transparent is looking awesome!! As does Lechuck's ship!!

There's also some concept art too.

    Nice.....I can't wait for Tuesday!!!

Anyone notice one of the concepts art filename mentions
    the swordmaster?
  • edited December 2009
    LeChuck's ship looks AMAZING.

I am SO happy TellTale is making MI dark again! Theives den?! Swordmaster?! AHH >.<

I love the Boatman still...the setting and atmosphere reminds me of Grim Fandango :)

I spy a pile of sextants. Can't tell if the one with the open case is autographed, though.

the pile of treashure looks like purple tentakle to me.....

If the boatman is the boatman I think it is then Telltale f*cking rock. (Re-used character from CoMI pherhaps)

Also I somehow get the feeling this might be in the same tone as the underground tunnels in MI2:LE, but thats just a hunch I've got.

I like the overall look, though I wish
Ghost Pirate Guybrush Threepwood was transparent. In that shot he just looks blue and glowy
. But yeah, love the stylized look of the screenshots and concept art for the episode so far.
  • edited December 2009
Am I the only who had to look up what a sextant was when they were first mentioned in Chapter 1?

You sure about that? Looks to me like you can see ribs and arm bones.

Nope, in fact, I had to look it up again just now to make sure I was remembering what it was from the first time I looked it up.

Oh, okay, I sort of missed that before and that is really cool and I'm going to be now staring at his ribcage and arms the whole game. But I more meant being able to see things through Guybrush, not really things..."in" Guybrush. Also, it'd be really cool if Guybrush had a visible skull in there.
  • edited December 2009
I can kind of see if you were able to see things through him, but to me a skull would make him a bit more creepy and a bit less Guybrushy.

Though I'm sure the effect would be completely awesome.

Also, look, Lefty's back, and he's got the wedding ring with him!

I think it'd make him more "ghost-y", and I think that as long as he had a Guybrush-y demeanor, it'd be fine. People were able to like Manny, after all.

"Oh hey, look, my wedding ring! That was a close one. If I hadn't found this thing, Elaine was going to kill me! Er...figuratively speaking."

So presumably, in the land of the living, only animals can sense our intrepid pirate hero...

    "wait, you can see me?"
  • edited December 2009
    Im loving what im seeing.

Somehow it gives me the feeling its gonna be a big chapter with lots of characters.

What is and isn't transparent when your lead character has ghostly moments is inspired by this (except Guybrush is wearing a shirt).

    Looks great Jake!

So we don't spend the whole ep as a ghost - I wonder if we can switch between the lands of the living and the dead at will? Kinda like Reality 2.0..

Im sure some of you have noticed how
the places in the concepts are equal to the original three trials (treasure hunting, thives den, swordmaster)

    Ooh... excitement-y tingle-yness! :D

Both the screenshots and the concepts are just plain awesome! Are those giant cannons on
    LeChuck's ship
? Do they shoot voodoo pox? Or monkeys? Or voodoo-poxed monkeys?

Looks like Jake is spending at least part of this thread as a ghost. :p

    This
    ship
looks kind of like Forge from Loom.

Yep, I noticed the three trials thing too.
Good to see that Telltale are making the series good and dark as it should be. Their efforts have been greater to me than LucasArts' efforts with the Special Edition. In fact, I wouldn't mind Telltale continuing the Monkey Island saga in the slightest. Telltale and their engine are higher on my list now than LucasArts. And now only one thing can really change that...
Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge - Special Edition

    Congrats Telltale.

Okay, some thoughts on the screenshots/concepts:
Wow ... it looks perfectly eerie and just this side of off-kilter (in that, um, undead sorta way, if that makes any sense) so far. Those "islands" -- in what I presume is the River Styx, or a reasonable facsimile thereof? -- are intriguing. Maybe we'll be spending some quality time with the boatman, whose design I adore. And I didn't notice the Three Trials parallel at first -- good catch, Ignatius! Floating lanterns are an awesome touch and ... wait, is Carla dead?! Or that area belongs to someone else, like the Land of the Dead's equivalent of the swordmaster. Or maybe the dead and the living can intermingle here? As someone mentioned upthread, that Scottie in the thieves' den doesn't look dead. Hmm. Semi-translucent Guybrush looks like fun, too! And LeChuck's ship asdfkasdfasdlkf

That'll do for now. Anything else I write may or may not look like more "alsdjfaklsdlksgh". And I don't do the keyboard-mashing-to-represent-the-incoherent-anticipatory-joy-of-my-current-state-of-being thing, like, ever.

So. Um. Can RotPG be released yesterday? Pretty please?

The thieves den picture looks like king Andres place on skull island in comi.

Honest to god, all creds to the concept artist(s?). The boatman is the best damn designed character I've ever seen in a MI game. He looks so stylized and is so entertaining to look at. I love him so, and I don't even know what he does or who he is! The only thing design-wise that really competes with him is Steve Purcell's MI-movie design for zombie LeChuck, but I think thats a shared first place.
  • edited December 2009
I have to ask, LeChucks ship, it looks like it contain parts from the old LeChuck fortress from MI2. Also the Den reminded me of King Andre too. The Boatman has a bit of that Discworld Grim Reaper vibe to him. :)
  • edited December 2009
Is the boat man the Lost Welshman from Curse? (The one with the compass.)
  • edited December 2009
nice pics. I take my hat off again to Ryan for the great art (i think i'll just leave it off). The river styx really reminds me of KQ6 and the LeChuck ship, Im guessing, is going to be a painting somewhere rather than concept art.
Also, I wonder if the dog is Old Blind Pew from COMI, with his eyesight back in the afterlife.

Considering he's a boatman in the underworld, he's incredibly likely to be the Monkey Island version of the Greek Charon. Also, considering it's a robed skeleton, it's extremely in line with modern interpretations of Charon(though it is done amazingly well). Considering they already did the coin ferry thing in Sam and Max, I'm not sure if they're going to do a puzzle regarding that same myth in this game as well, though they could definitely do it if they wanted to...finding a way to get a coin under the tongue of Guybrush's corpse.
