That sounds almost exactly like the problem I have. I'm probably going to lose time on it, since last time I played I had to repeat some stuff after loading the save outside Pete's house. Well, I'll add you to the list! Are you going to try and document?

Okay, we're just under 8 hours from the start of the race and I've got a few last minute things to say.

First, we never decided on a rule regarding breaks, so unless someone thinks of something better, it's going to be "at your own risk".

Second, I still don't know about documentation for Secret Fawful and Teeth, so if you're going to try and stream or tweet, let me know where. You don't have to, it would just be a cool way for people to see where everyone is.

Third, I've added a rule regarding the use of saves made during the race and game crashes.

Okay, I'm going to try to wind down and get some sleep so I can try to be conscious tomorrow.

The only glitch I had with EMI was throwing the coconuts.

Rule regarding breaks, every ten minutes after every game, and I'm raring to do this. See See I'm wearing sweat bands.

I'll definitely make a video of my progress, which will go on my YouTube channel:
    http://www.youtube.com/user/JoeMudd123

I might include commentary over certain parts of the video. At the very least I'll post my progress regularly in this topic.

Oh, yeah there is Youtube. I'll be doing the same on http://www.youtube.com/user/Fawfulhasfury

    So...yeah.

Well the race is starting in 8 minutes, so just letting everyone know. heh

    I'm starting now

Crap. I uh, well, I'm still trying to get Escape to work on my 64 bit system. -.- Stupidness.

Man, I would have signed up, but because of timezones, I'd either be sleeping or in the workshop during the event. :[

Oh good thanks! And there's one for Curse as well.

Guess I'll start. Look at my edit for the time.

    I'm using Livestream instead.

Ignore the first two videos, those were tests.

EDIT: I seriously screwed up the broadcast and took 63 videos O_O so follow the link to the new broadcast above.

...wait, what? When we set up the start time it was supposed to correspond to 9 AM here and 10 AM in IL. It's 8:30 here. Eh, whatever, I'll just have to be an hour behind everyone. Much as I hate to change the rules after the start, there's a couple more things that are necessary.

One, the credits count as a cutscene. Since the SoMI: Special Edition credits are longer than the original version, switching during the credits is allowed. You're finished when you see "Turn off your computer and go to bed", "Turn off your computer and do something constructive", when Curse and Escape auto-quit, and when the Tales episdoes return to their menus.

Two, 10 minute break after every game.

And Secret Fawful, you can delete videos by going into the studio area. Also, there's an option to not record.

Well, I'm going to spend the next 25 minutes getting ready. Getting my game pad ready for Escape and getting my Monkey Kombat chart going and all that.

    Okay, here I go...
  • edited December 2009
Guruguru, I notice you have the Text speed on standard. If you go into classic mode, press the '+' button a few times, and return to SE mode, the pauses between lines will go away.

Good luck to all participants! As someone who finished his own MonkeyThon late last night (would've been faster if it weren't for all the real-life stuff I had to do this weekend), let me just say, have fun, make sure you're properly rested/caffeinated, and don't kill yourself during Monkey Kombat!

Right, I'm just starting off now. Nearly two hours after the start time, but hey, a guy's gotta eat. :P I dunno how dedicated you guys are but I will be taking time out of playing to eat/sleep/see friends/etc.

EDIT: Sorry, everyone. Had to bail. I'm gonna be too busy.
  • edited December 2009
I wish I could join you all, but I do not have a PC that will run all versions properly right now. :-( best of luck to all entrants! I am sure this will take some time.
  • edited December 2009
Oh my... sorry I just find this whole thread hysterical!
Okay, never mind - good luck guys anyway :D
  • edited December 2009
Finished Secret about 20 minutes ago, starting LeChuck's Revenge now.

    Teeth - (Dropped Out)

hehe... you should really see a dentist about that.

I don't know which is nerdier - the fact that you guys are doing this, or the fact that I'll probably keep checking your streams. :p

Well I finally finished SOMI: Special Edition. And it only took....5 and a half hours. I could have skipped dialog and done it in under an hour if I'd done the original version but I hadn't played SE all the way through and figured why not now.

    On to LeChuck's Revenge.
  • edited December 2009
How many people are actually doing this? I'm guessing Guruguru is winning then??
  • edited December 2009
I really wish I could take part in this, but unfortunately I've got school, which means no race for me. I'm just playing through the episodes of Tales, seeing how they are really short. Anyways, I wish you guys who could join the race good luck, and may the best pirate, er adventurer win!
  • edited December 2009
Hey, what counts as skipping dialog anyway? Do I have to choose every option I see?
  • edited December 2009
No, I meant like using the period key or right click to skip over lines you've already triggered. You don't have to pick optional dialogue.
  • edited December 2009
Finished LeChuck's Revenge at the time of the post. Started Curse at the time of the edit.
  • edited December 2009
Problem is which mode do you play MI2 & MI3 in???
  • edited December 2009
Finished Monkey Island 2 on Mega Monkey, now on to Curse. Probably won't be able to finish them all tonight now. Dunno if that disqualifies me or not.
  • edited December 2009
Yeah, we forgot to mention that. We're playing on hard for both games.

And Fawful, if you want to quit for the night, let us know when you stop and resume and we'll still do a time for you.
  • edited December 2009
    Finished Curse.
  • edited December 2009
Yeah I'm gonna quit for the night. Wayyyy too tired to continue. I'm stopping now and I'll probably resume early in the morning. Thanks. Right now I'm in Puerto Pollo still.

...I just watched you type this. Odd. =P

It's been fun secretly stalking everyone! And absolutely fantastic to watch all the games being played. Makes me want to blow the dust off my Monkey Islands.

    H'okay, starting Escape now.
  • edited December 2009
Stopping escape, at Inside the vault.
  • edited December 2009
Woah, things are really hotting up. So i imagine some people have gone to sleep. Lets hope you actually get it finished before release time!
  • edited December 2009
Five hours and forty minutes later, I'm finished with Escape. I feel physically ill. I think I'm at 17 hours 45 minutes since I started, including breaks. Starting Narwhal immediately.

Edit: Apparently the credits for Escape are longer than I thought. Done for real now.
  • edited December 2009
Go Go Go! You're in the home stretch now!
  • edited December 2009
Well, this blows. I've never heard of my ISP having a bandwidth limit, but I fear they do and I exceeded it today by streaming 19 hours straight. My modem is down and seems to be refusing to go back up. I'm posting this from my phone, so could someone let the people in the stream know? I'm going to knock off for the night and finish my race later.

I really hope this doesn't keep me from downloading Rise of the Pirate God tomorrow...
