I had the same problem, too. I could hear Guybrush walking, but I couldn't see him no matter what I did. What I did next is probably the wrong "fix", but it worked and I got unstuck...

I exited the game without saving it. After a restart I replaced what was lost then Guybrush went back to the ship.

After the sword fight, Guybrush disappeared again, but this time when I used the arrow keys, he appeared :D

Hooray! I'm glad to hear it worked for you, too :)

My game keeps auto-saving before I can leave the swordfight scene so when I leave I get the same problem.

I can't click on anything and have to start over.

I just walked right and down for some seconds and it fixed.

It's a general glitch I believe, but no need to start over.

I only single click on the boom and that seems ok.

    I should be that lucky!

I tried for at least 10 minutes - nothing happened. If I didn't run out of patience, I'd be there right now still trying to walk my way out. Some folks were able to work around this cootie by going back to a previously saved point, but the only thing that worked for me was a full restart. Go figure...

I had this problem too. I solved it by pushing down, but I was using the point and drag controls, so it was a bit annoying. I later found out that you can click the screen and get Guybrush to move down by dragging him.

Move the cursor around until you get a big circle on the screen with an arrow. Then hold the button down and drag down. This should get Guybrush back to where you can see him.
