I'm starting to think I have a glitch on LeChuck's ship.

On the ship after being dropped from the crowsnest, I can't move Guybrush around with the keyboard or mouse, but I've also clicked on apparently all hotspots and gone through all Dialogue conversations with Elaine (the only option now is "Be Careful". I've been here ages and could really use some help.

Thanks!

Yikes! Try saving (in an empty save slot as to not overwrite an earlier game) and re-load.
  • edited December 2009
Thanks! but Now I'm in the middle of a cutscene I haven't seen before.
LeChuck and Guybrush are on the ship and LeChuck just pushed him into the ocean.
I'll progress and see what happens...

Thats what would have happened next - LeChuck shows up and keelhauls you! I don't know why he didn't trigger for you, though.
  • edited December 2009
Looks like it was a one time thing. I've been around the ship now. It seems it should only take a few seconds for LeChuck to turn up.

    Thanks!

I also wasn't able to move on the ship. WASD did nothing and click-and-drag brought up the circle but did nothing else. Saving and loading didn't help, even when exiting to windows in between. Luckily I managed to finish the game anyway.

How am I suppose to get the key from the skeleton? I can't click anything when I'm under the boat. Am I just missing something or is it obvious?

Maybe you should make sure LeChuck is distracted while you're under water.

    Dahhh....Thanks!

Click around before you get keelhauled.
  • edited December 2009
    hint:
you have to have LeChuck stop pulling you along about half-way
    giveaway:
before getting keelhauled, ask Elaine to fight LeChuck

I had that same problem, but I fixed it by saving and then reloading, as every time you reload LeChuck shows up.

It only does it the first few times, after you almost finish that puzzle it no longer occurs, although it did happen to me once at the other end of the ship. Saving and reloading works a treat.

I had this glitch aswell. Lechuck just wouldn't come and knock me flying. Luckily, Saving/loading solved the issue.
  • edited December 2009
Ha wow, I thought you were supposed to be stuck in one spot. Luckily Guybrush'll still move to interact with the environment. I thought all the frozen spears were a glitch until I remembered LeChuck using his time freezing powers about a minute before haha.
  • edited December 2009
Me too with the glitch. In fact, saving and loading caused LeChuck to attack me immediately. The game must have realized the timer had gone almost 6 minutes over.

You can't move on LeChuck's ship - that's not a bug :) Guybrush probably should have looked more out of breath or something at those points. So it goes. LeChuck not showing up after 7-8 seconds is a bug, though.
  • edited December 2009
It will sometimes take a little longer depending if you are doing some kind of action with your surroundings. I did have an occasion where I was talking to Elaine , got
    keelhauled
and the conversation still went on while I was
    onder the ship

Anyone who has been experiencing this issue, could you send me the save-game you made when you were stuck?

Being able to crack open your save game will help us figure out where the game logic has wandered off and gotten confused.

Have you got an email address i can send it to? It says it's an invalid file type to upload here.

Also, it just automatically starts the cutscene where lechuck drags guybrush underwater. Would you like the save i made 20 mins before aswell?

*edit* Never mind, i uploaded the save somewhere else. Sending you the link now.

I had this problem as well. Whenever I Alt/Tab to the Internet and go back the game 'locked up' and LeChuck never showed up to punch me around the ship.

Sounds like other people are having the same problem - don't know if that is necessarily why.

It's fixed by saving the game and reloading that save. I don't use Alt tab, i use the windows key instead. Maybe that will help stop the issue for you.

that last see-saw puzzle was MEAN.

Went through all the episodes with hints off, no problem, and got stuck right at the end!

I had the bug too, it happend in the same place, I opened my inventory as soon as I got there and was checking out the stuff for longer than it should have let me... I don't know if that caused the issue or not, but that is what I was doing at the time. Sorry I don't have a save game to send...and I wish I knew that saving and reloading would work. I just restarted with the last auto save and that was way before I even solved the sponge diet puzzle! (Maybe at least adding an autosave checkpoint when you finished that puzzle woulda been nice.)

Thats alright, it's inevetible that any game will have a few bugs.

I didn't have the problem of the bug so it certainly isn't affecting everyone.

Yep, same here, what's even worse... I checked the walkthrough... and found out that I'm doing exactly what I'm supposed to do... but Guybrush isn't stepping where I want him to step... he just says his "at sea. Ha." line, then LeChuck does his punch-travel thing again.

Am I supposed to double click? What is going ON?

What have you done so far?

Ah, good question... you see, I got it to work ONCE... and haven't been able to repeat the success since.

I've done everything I'm supposed to do, the sail, light the cannon, get punched into the right spot... and Guybrush just... says his line... and doesn't do the stepping.

I don't know if I'm just glitching out, which is why it worked ONCE... but never again... which is why I'm thankful I created a savegame AFTER that point.

Still, bothers me... want to know if I just didn't click in the right spot, or if it's a wee little game bug.

I ran into this issue as well. Are any more saves needed, or do you have it covered?

You guys are forgeting one single element of this puzzle. You guys didn't mention about this one in your posts, so I'm putting this as a reminder. If you already know this, I'm really sorry for being such a wiseass.
The thing is, where LeChuck jumps from is also an important aspect of this puzzle.
You have to go to the wheelhouse after LeChuck launches you to the crow's nest. Then wait for LeChuck, and then talk to Elaine and click on the seesaw only once. It doesn't work if LeChuck jumps from crow's nest to main sail. LeChuck HAS to jump down from wheelhouse in order to land on the seesaw perfectly.

I just saw this thread and I have not read any spoilers so please no hints for the moment, my only question is that I also can't move, is this normal? Can I continue or something is wrong? thanks.
  • edited January 2010
It's normal that you can't move. Guybrush is getting punched around pretty hard, and is hardly able to stand.
  • edited January 2010
Thanks, I'm still in that part. I don't know why they do this but it's kind of annoying to have limited time. It's like a racing game! :(

Ah I just posted on this - seem to be having the same issue, waited around 10 minutes, nothing - went off and came back after 20 minutes, same spot! Not sure why he won't come and punch me around the ship, and I thought I could move a little earlier(within the same screen). Will re-load later and see if that solves it

Hi... so I played that one spot over and over again, where you basically allow LeChuck to strategically abuse you until you're in the right spot. The only thing I've figured so far is that... persistence is the winner.

You know when he knocks Guybrush's twiggy little body into the right spot ... then just start clicking in a small area where you know he's supposed to go to trigger the next sequence. I haven't found a particular "sweet spot" that just MAKES Guybrush step on the plank... seems fairly random.

Okay. The Boulder Puzzle was the most annoying part of that game. I had to turn the sound off because I started wanting to beat Guybrush up if I had to hear him make that *hrk!* sound one more time (as in every time he launched a boulder).
