same, kind of. i thought he looked awesome as both a ghost and a pirate, but i kind of got scared they were gonna make us make guybrush a demon pirate, then have him possess a giant statue of himself, then gain power from the crossroads before we could defeat lechuck

Wait, why would you be scared? That would have been AWESOME.
i second that being a demon guybrush would totally kick ass. maybe like: ok, fuck u, chucky and lainiepoo, i’m going to make out with morgans ghost and you can do what you like.
LeChuck did it before it was cool. now every arch nemesis of his is gonna be gettin pirate god level voodo powers, and he's just gonna look like a poser.
TTG did do a good job, but Lucasarts can afford to put more time and effort into an adventure game. Besides, a return to the mainstream for adventure games would only be good.
LA will only put as much money into an adventure game as they think will ensure them making a profit. In other words, next to their SW franchise, it would hardly be high priority.
Do you think LA currently have the talent to make a good adventure game more so than TTG has? Do you think they could have done a better job than TTG did with Tales? If so, what makes you think so?
Let's remember that the last MI game by LucasArts was called Escape from Monkey Island. Now, I don't hate that game with the passion of some here, but there's no question that ToMI is better ...
Besides, pretty much everyone who worked on the old LucasArts adventures has long since left the company to join Telltale and other development studios. I'd be surprised if there's anyone left at all there from their glory days in the 90s.
Damn it, why did he have to get his hand back?
The hook worked so well for the guy. I had just gotten used to seeing him with it all the time, and now that he got the hand back, it's like watching someone who usually wears glasses taking them off! Or someone shaving his beard!
It was a very fitting gadget for him, and something I was looking forward to seeing as part of Guybrush's future appearances. : P
Someone here HAS to agree with me.
Guybrush himself was sad at the return of his hand

But guybrush with a miniature firey beard would have been awesome!

The special edition of Monkey Island was made using a limited budget, by LA's standards - with that said, the production values are still vastly superior to ToMI. If LA was interested in adventure games, then yes, undoubtedly they would assemble a team more talented than TTG. Besides, the more companies that develop video games, the better.
Funny you bring up Escape from Monkey Island. One of the Co-designers of Escape was Mike Stemmle. He also happens to be the designer for Tales of Monkey Island as well. A lot of the same development team that worked on Escape also worked on ToMI. ToMI better be the superior game, considering it was made 9 years later by some of the same people who made Escape.
I don't hate TTG - in fact, just the opposite. Sam and Max Season 2 is one of my favorite games of all time. I would rate it as high as such classics as DoTT and the original Sam and Max game. With that said, TTG has certain limitations due to its budget that LA would not be restricted by.

perfectly right.
and by the way - I loved the hook too, as well as its lockpicking abilities.
