the ending is confusing me

I think it was not Guybrush's hand in the jar, but rather LeChuck's belt buckle. The thief guy stole it from Guybrush, and Morgan must have stolen it from him.

Thankyou, very much. It was clearly the belt buckle, not Guybrush's hand. Why would Guybrush's hand be in the jar that contains Lechuck's essence? It doesn't make any sense.

I think it a was LeChuck´s skull guys....

Wait, it weren't LeChuck's eyes in that jar?

He hasn't left the Crossroads. He's still dead. The glowy ending is just another illusion, like Big Whoop.

It wasn't Guybrush's hand in the jar, because that already lay on top of the voodoo lady's table. Or didn't it? There was a poxed hand there, I'm pretty sure, but maybe not GT's?

I didn't really see what that was in the jar, but you could hear LeChuck screaming when Morgan put it down, so I figured she had collected some sort of remains of his spirit or something. But the belt buckle seems more likely.

Also, am I the only one trusting the Voodoo lady? I just thought she wanted to keep an eye on LeChuck, therefore asking Morgan to collect some bits from him. She knows true evil can never be destroyed, etc. That doesn't quite explain her very fishy smile/laughter at the very end, though. I do hope there will be a second season elaborating on this!

But seriously, the Voodoo Lady as the "real" villain, just one step further on her master plan to conquer the Carribean? Far-fetched. There has to be something else to it.

I like the other Idea that has been thrown around. The Voodoo Lady isn't good or bad, she just uses Voodoo to balance the universe. The example is it's sorta like the Force in Star Wars. It's an all around power that doesn't care what side you are.

You're opening up a can of worms with this analogy that you really do not want to get into.

If you're talking about balance, it's more like an instable balance, like a chair on two wheels, or a lose pole with a horizontal plank stuck on it. One slight tip to one side, one imbalance and the whole thing topples. So, to make sure it doesn't fall to the left, you have to add more weight to the right.

It confused me too but I wasn't paying that much attention to the plot details and I think that even TTG had a field day figuring it all out as they went along with it. LOL, I think they opened up to their fans and improvised with it.

Elaine is bright and seems to know Guybrush better than himself. AhhHHHHh that the power of LOVE saves the day (and the series)... it's so... FITTING of the cheesy-romance that is this entire series.

Did someone say that there's going to be a ToMI season TWO? Have I *DIED* and gone to HEAVEN?? The amount of anguish of "waiting and not knowing" when that 5th installment was going to come out after the 4th one was terrible...

and then the terrible realization that if the 5th came out... that would be the END...

I could barely deal with it.

There hasn't been any official announcement - but did you watch the Chapter 5 credits all the way to the end? There is definitely some unfinished business.

Additionally, ToMI has been TellTales most successful franchise I think, so it just makes good business sense. I would imagine the only sticking point would be if LucasArts pulls the license back for some reason. But who knows what the initial contract said about future seasons.

My personal bet is that we will see the new Sam and Max in the spring or summer of 2010, and then Season 2 of Monkey Island sometime in Fall/Winter of 2010 or early 2011. But that is a total guess, I have no actual insider info.

Oooh. ooh ooh ooh. More Monkey. :) ... wait a whole YEAR? Aawwwwww...

Your guess is probably pretty good, considering Episode 5 *just* came out. Nyergh, grumble grumble.

S&M is pretty good too. MI is first 'n' foremost in my heart though.

Well the human memory is funny, after watching that final scene for some reason I mistakenly thought guybrush's hand was in the jar with lechuck. On replaying it, I realize now that its lechucks belt buckle in the jar. What I didn't realize until reading Haralds post and re-rewatching the scene is that Guybrush's hand is on the voodoo ladys desk.

Guybrush had his hand back in the end, so it doesn't make sense that the voodoo lady has his hand unless he was given a new body. In which case, where is the rest of his corpse I wonder o.o ?

It's his skull, guys. The belt buckle smiles, the skull does not. Didn't notice the hand before though, that's an interesting twist.

I don't see much of a problem with Guybrush growing a new left hand. After all, his body was a dry decaying corpse and was magically restored to a living, pink, squishy body. Why wouldn't power like that be able to regrow a hand?

Actually I'm pretty sure its his belt buckle. I'm re-watching the clips i recorded from the game and the belt buckle only looks smiley when its in human hands. If you look at the belt buckle in the first part of chapter one, its not smiling and it looks identical to the state it is in in the jar.

It's impossible to see the contents of the jar as anything more than a blurry stain in such a low res youtube video.

But, I admit, it could be LeChuck's evil belt buckle. I just don't see why his belt buckle being in the jar would make any sense whatsoever.

Fun fact: if you want to create a link to a specific point in a YouTube video, just add #(minutes)m(seconds)s to the end of the URL. For example:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1N5gXEsOdo#t=1m53s

Ha ha... you rock. Guybrush rocks even more... The Geek shall inherit the Earth I say!!

I figured the ring thing out from the start too, but then I accidentally schlepped the anchor before I knew anything.. AND well, who on earth didn't try the grog machine ASAP?? Really...

So I already had two ingredients, figured they HAD to be used... besides... the ring had been there the whole time... fitting it should be the finale item.

It would be cool if, on the offchance LeChuck is out of the picture for good, Morgan the Ghost Pirate Hunter was the new villain... hunting pirates and imposing privateer law on the Caribbean, but since she's friends with Guybrush not going after him directly. Since Guybrush is the only one safe from the Ghost Pirate Hunter he must be the one to stop her unholy reign of terror... maybe.

It WOULD be interesting, and let's face it, LeChuck is gettin'... kinda old. He's been just about everything now (zombie, ghost, demon, human, etc.)...

However... I wanted to ask, I just finished the game again (yes, I have a save game RIGHT at the end) and I interpreted the VooDoo lady as saying that Morgan was going to be a "Ghost Pirate" Hunter, as in not a ghost herself, but one who hunts ghost pirates...

Didn't the VooDoo lady say something about Mo returning to the land of the living? Dangit... I'll go finish it one more time.

Right, edited my opinion, you're right, she says the ghostly form will return, not that the ghost would become physically solid...

Elaine wasnt in on it from the start cos in chap 3 she was working with lechuck to put the monkeys back and acting as if he was a reformed human with no one else there so there would be no resion 2 act so she must have realy thought he was a nice human and the monkeys really needed returning

That was part of the act.
and acting as if he was a reformed human with no one else there

LeChuck was there. She had to fool him into believing that she thought he was reformed.
