V3. The costume direction is... interesting.

All it is, is V1 Elaine with a bandana and the same pearl necklace as V2; but they gave her huge boobs and a cleavage. Are they forgetting the original designs of MI or something?

Edit: Looked at her again, I like it, she's hot.

About time that Elaine's tits became characters in their own right...

Just watched a gameplay video and it seems they completely changed her face from these concept images.
  • edited May 2010
Definitely. I'm just curious at what point it changes.
  • edited May 2010
There must be 5000 versions of Elaine.
  • edited May 2010
Did they give her a tutu?
It's interesting, but I can't say I like it very much. The top in particular doesn't seem like a very practical outfit, and Elaine seems like a practical kind of person to me.

They tried to sex up Elaine. That's what it is. Keep to the original costume.

She's wearing one of these, but yeah.

Her boots as well. I take comfort in thinking that this was just a phase in development.

You people have terrible taste in character designs.
  • edited May 2010
I wouldn't call showing half an inch of clevage 'sexing up'.

    Looks fine.

Considering the previous designs, they made her look like a bar maid. Honestly I wouldn't care if it wasn't for the fact that it's Elaine.

    Doesn't like V3 here.

    Next!

I hate it, absolutely hate it. It looks nothing like the original and the costume is just...weird.

Wow that's the first time I've ever seen Elaine with cleavage, that I can remember...

Anyways I think V3 looks alright, although the over-skirt thing is a bit ridiculous... ..for her at least.

That is a godawful clothing design, at what point would a governor think "a waistcoat that pushes my breasts into the populace's faces is a good idea" is a good idea?

Well there's this, but idk, it kinda made sense here.

    Elaine: Whore edition, haha.

    Whore seems a bit... much.

    Elaine, Prostitute Edition :D
  • edited May 2010
Maybe if she were wearing stickers on her nipples, a very small thong and straddling LeChuck's leg.

    Maybe.
  • edited May 2010
Whore? Now you're just pissing me off.
  • edited May 2010
theres nothing whoreish about that outfit or elaine in anyway
  • edited May 2010
She doesn't look whorish at all, I wouldn't even say provocative. It just seems unpractical and she's the kind who likes doing stuff, so I imagine she would wear an outfit that doesn't get in the way, that's all.
  • edited May 2010
I think the outfit in V3 looks pretty, but not for a Governor, which is what Elaine still is in Lechuck's Revenge. I like her face better, but not the nose.

I do really like the boots and pants though, but where did her belt buckle go? =(

Again, this seems like the work of a decent designer who wasn't familiar enough with the character. It makes you wonder what written character descriptions they gave the artists, if any.
  • edited May 2010
I would hope whomever the artists are, have played through the first two games before drawing for the characters. Wouldn't that make the most sense?
  • edited May 2010
That V3 outfit reminds me of some MI fanart of Elaine my friend and I made a while ago after we were "inspired" with an incident of me playing Monkey Island while a Lady Gaga song came on the radio.

I don't want to remember this event ever again. In fact let's pretend I never said... Oops pressed "post."

It is possible. I mean, Craig Derrick did say something about revealing the secret in an unexpected way soon! Oh yeah, and when's it coming out?

Am the only person that think it would be selfish for Ron Gilbert to give us the secret and kill off the entire franchise after its been expanded into new Tales and shows signs of life?

The idea of doing this in "his last game" is even worse. It's royally a f- you to everything after. Seems a bit conceited and selfish to me.

    That's just me though.

Why would an exposed secret end the franchise?

I doubt it. LA probably wouldn't want to spend the time (and by extension, money) having concept artists play through the games if they hadn't played them before. It seems more likely they would just be given a plot summary and descriptions of who the characters are and what they do in the game, along with the original sprites of course. I could be wrong, but that would be my assumption.

Why would an exposed secret end the franchise?

Well in the second game, that would make the third sort of explode, esp the 4th as they don't know the secret yet...It would kill it off immediately and send the whole franchise to hell and Ron Gilbert's games would become disconnected to the rest of the franchise and he would royally in a way be saying F YOU ALL! You don't matter, only I matter!

Besides the first game is called The Secret of Monkey Island, who plays these games and doesn't wonder what it is, seriously? It's where it all started. It's full circle.
are we still talking about elanes top?

And I was sooo happy that TOMI had some perverted lines and jokes in it too. It wouldnt be MI without them.

Oh... I mean, just giving a copy of the game to the artists couldn't be that expensive though. The artists wouldn't have to actually play the game (they could use a walkthrough) or watch a video of it. It takes less than a day to play the first two MI games, quickly. At least it would give them an idea.

Whether the design seems to properly reflect Elaine's character or not, you have to admit it's pretty much trope incarnate for Of Corsets Sexy.
  • edited May 2010
I've wanted a corset for years. I wish it wasn't so hard to find.
  • edited May 2010
Good luck being able to breathe when you do.
  • edited May 2010
You can breathe fine if you wear them normally.

Very true, there's no reason to actually cinch a corset nowadays (those poor ladies rib cages....*shudders*)

A fashion/art major made me one for a project for class, but it kind of fell apart. She didn't use the right material, unfortunately.

Oh yeah, I guess it didn't catch my eye as much as in V3, or I forgot.
