Okay I'm sold, but how do you approah LA and ask "pretty please" can you change the boxart to fit this LCR:SE rendered boxart?
I'd personally like to see this art on the boxart (if we ever get a box to put it in) as opposed to models of the characters directly taken from the game.
At least changing it would be a greater tip of the hat to Purcell in my opinion...
Good move getting rid of Elaine in that pic. She sticks out like a sore thumb. And Guybrush looks like a stiff and he's toppling over. Still, it's interesting to see the differences between a rough concept and a final product.
And the doll is like »Let’s scram guys, I know the way!«
I have to ask about your quotation marks. Is that how they're written in German? They look like French quotation marks, except you seem to be using the closing ones to open the quote and the opening ones to close the quote.

Yeah, we use »…« as well as „…“, though I think the latter is more common. But »…« are my favorite. I mean, it totally looks rad.
I forgot about this thread. Seeing the concept for the finished design in its rough form makes me wonder what the other concepts would look like had they been finished and painted properly - especially the one with the close-up of LeChuck.
I thought the original was fine until I saw these edits. We have some fantastic artists on this board - LeChuck's beard looks amazing now.
I re-made* the whole thing in my own style. If you're put off by disgraceful, flagrant self-promotion, close your eyes now.
I have a slighty higher res version that I uploaded to imageshack, but it seems to have died. If anyone wants me to reupload it, paste the lyrics to "kiss from a rose" just ask.
*That is, made a tribute to the original painting because I enjoyed re-doing LeChuck's face for this thread. Not intended to replace the special edition art or anything (not that it could anyway since the setting is kind of spoilery)
Awe that's cute my wife wears my t-shirts to bed sometimes
This isn't cute though... it's a man wearing the clothes of the girl who, as yet, has rejected his constant begging and stalking. I guess it worked, though, because she did end up accepting his proposal while he was wearing her clothes.
Here, of course, is the comp for the final LeChuck's Revenge painting. Looks like I hadn't yet thought of the idea of the dead bird plume and what is Elaine doing there besides looking like a man? It appears I reversed the values of the clouds and sky for additional eeriness and tried punching up the phoney baloney lighting on the figures. All in all a handy exercise I guess.
So it was something Purcell thought up after the concept. (or someone else did, but I doubt it was accidentally painted in )
You mean she's go two sets of white shirts with puffy arms, red bandana and sash, black vests and black pants? You must have some inside information about her wardrobe, I guess.
Whereas the vest in the original is a closed one, the one in the concept is open. As well as the fact that she's not wearing a bandanna around her neck in the concept either. I'm just saying it ain't the exact same. Chill a bit. I wasn't trying to be abrasive.

It should be just a little darker than .

Purcell rules.
You said it.
Ditto.
I said, Hey honey,
Take a walk on the wild side
And the coloured girls say,
Doo do doo do doo do do doo

They couldn't have done it any differently lol.
There's no massive clump of feathers sticking out of LeChuck's hat either.
Edit: Speaking of the feather, am I the only one that looks like a crow crash-landed inside his hat?
Edit 2: Was that intended? Because I'm sure I see a beak and an eye, and it is clearly a dead bird in the following piece of concept by Steve Purcell:
As do I, it just reflects LeChuck's (for want of better words) unfanciness, filthiness, carelessness and ruthlessness perfectly.
Have you actually read the blog-post?

Ah, thanks. For what it's worth, I prettymuch always read the blog post of a piece of artwork, but in this case I did not.
It's the same outfit she's wearing on the SMI cover.
