I bought the Standard edition. Though the stuff that comes with the Deluxe version is very cool, it isn't worth 23 euros to me (Either with shipping costs or more merchandise or the new Sam & Max).
The extra stuff is not 23€...
It is when you count the shipping costs in and subtract the shipping costs of the normal DVD.
Ordered the Standard DVD, more than enough for me, as i just want to use them as backup discs.
Back in the time there hasn´t been Standard/Deluxe Versions, but you got the goodies with every boxed copy. I still remember my "Stonekeep" Retail Box including a Book. Sadly these times are gone.
Oh, by the way, it would be a nice "Thank You" gift, if you could ship the DVD Versions without any DRM. You know, the games are cracked already, so it would only benefit your loyal customers. Please think about it.
I got free shipping when I got this and The Devil's Playhouse. I really wish I'd shelled out for a mug or something now!
Hold on a second. Do you only get free shipping if you order the Tales Of Monkey Island Deluxe DVD AND Preorder Sam&Max Season 3? I placed two seperate orders, one for the Standard DVD and one Preorder for Sam&Max Season 3. So will i be entitled for free shipping too?

You need to spend $50 or more. If you placed separate orders, you ought to email Telltale or post on the support forums and ask them to either cancel your order so you can redo it, or ask them to combine the orders for you (if they can) so you can get free shipping if the two items add up to approx. $50 or more.

No, because they are alone nor combined more than $50.
And it's not "only", it's one of many ways to get it (well, got it).
Has anyone had their standard or deluxe edition sent to them? I ordered mine when I got the e-mail saying it was available to order and when I did everything it said this "Tales of Monkey Island DVD with Steve Purcell slipcase. One or more items are backordered. Your order will ship when all items are in stock." I just want my Monkey Island in a decent amount of time. Thanks for your information!

As per the Telltale blog, the ToMI DVDs won't be shipping until some time this Spring. They are in pre-order status now, so they'll show up as "backordered" until they're in stock.
I got the Deluxe Edition, since shipping was free anyway together with "The Devil's Playhouse". Nevertheless, I already started to wonder if I shouldn't have gotten the Tarot Cards and/or Surfin' the Highway too. Well, there's always the next order
there's only one DVD, the only time there will be a difference of the DVD is if there's a special slipcase or not.
The deluxe edition only extras is a bunch of stuff that you don't really need and isn't that interesting, at least to me anyways. Unless it's a t-shirt or poster with good design, monkey island products asides for the games aren't really worth it.
Since when has monkey island ever made you want fake tarrot cards? I would of gone for a metal grog cup, but cards.. nah.

This opinion is very common among people who weren't Infocom fans, or people who never had an Infocom game. The Deluxe Edition, like the Sam and Max "Case Files", is something that was created out of respect and love for the traditions of adventure games. The Infocom "feelies" really enhanced a person's experience with an otherwise text-only game.
I've never played an Infocom game, but I like the Sam & Max Case File. It's just too bad I only have the one for the second season.
That's why I bought the Deluxe Edition, for the useless stuff it comes with
Code wheels and maps/posters. That's the most I ever got out of adventure game boxes in the 90s. Wish I was old enough to enjoy more of the 80s ones, though. I still have the code wheel and map/poster for Altered Destiny in the box.
I went for the deluxe edition, partially to give Telltale all mah moneyz, but mostly because it seemed the cheapest option relatively speaking.
The shipping costs were something like 18 dollars, even though I'd be getting a DVD I already played extensively (with a special slipcase ). So why not double up, and actually make the shipping worth the while with some extra goodies =P
So, has anyone received the DVD yet? Or is there a shipping release date to be announced? I know Telltale said they are shipping this month, so maybe after The Penal Zone is released?
Hello, just a question:
If I pre-ordered the game (on July last year), but for some reasons bought only recently the DVD, so that now my order is "backordered", i will get anyway the special Steve Purcell DVD???
(As a decennial fan, I hope so!!!)
Yes. The special Steve Purcell DVD cover was promised to pre-orderers only last June. Even though anyone can get it now with the deluxe edition....
Ohh, so good to know..!! And by the way, actually I felt i little bit strange about this fact that anyone can get it...Sounds like:
"If you are a Monkey lover and had the chance of pre order the game you will get the SP DVD, but you can get it anyway if you pay more, money can buy everything..."
I mean, now it's not so rare as it would be supposed to be...!!
1) TTG didn't want there to be so few copies of Purcell's artwork that people would be selling the DVD with the Purcell boxart on eBay for hundreds of dollars and making tons of money off of one of Telltale's own games.
2) Both offers of the Purcell art at download pre-order and at disc pre-order are sales tactics to try to encourage the sale and/or pre-order of more copies of the game.
My money is on the latter. But, if Telltale is using sales tactics to make more money, then idc so long as their games are still good.
My theory is that they intended it to be a preorder bonus, but then the slipcase was so great that they thought it was a shame.
So they tried to make it available to more people while still being fair and not letting everyone have it. So it's part of the deluxe edition and you need to pay extra to get it.
As a result you still get something special for preordering: the ability to get the slipcase without getting the Deluxe edition.
And if you missed the preorder, you can still get the slipcase but you need to pay for it.
Of course that also means that people who preorder and get the deluxe edition either lose their preorder special or get less for their money on the deluxe edition.
But still, I think they really tried to make it as fair as possible. They probably just thought it was a shame that more people couldn't get Steve's cover.
That's true. Pre-orderers of the Deluxe Edition should get a cheaper price than $14.95 because we're supposed to get the slip cover for free. But the only discount we're getting on the Deluxe Edition is the game DVD. The deluxe stuff including the special slip cover is still included in the $14.95 price.
That sucks. I just wasted my pre-order.
Still, in my opinion if people wanted the slip cover they should have pre-ordered. It just feels like cheating. I'm not hung up about it, but it is a bit of a bummer...I don't feel as special anymore. I mean, I paid for the game before others who didn't pre-order but I still got the game the same time as everyone else did (when it came out). So really there was no real bonus for me at all for pre-ordering (except for the hidden forum which I didn't really participate in...and now everyone can read anyway). Especially now that I've bought the deluxe edition...
Honestly, even though I did pre-ordered and was going to pre-order anyway, I didn't like the idea that the Steve Purcell cover was a pre-order bonus. It was a benefit that had been free of charge for both Sam and Max seasons. I hadn't actually paid through Telltale for Sam and Max until both DVDs were already out, and I absolutely love the cover art on those(and continue to kick myself over not getting the Season Two poster print ). I wouldn't really be as happy with something more along the lines of the retail Wii boxes.
The pre-order slipcase thing was a bad idea to start with. I'm glad that people can still get the Purcell cover art.

Devil's Playhouse??
extra cool stuff woohooo
April sometime, no specific date though.

I just wish it came with a Tales of Monkey Island Poster Print or a Tales of Monkey Island T-Shirt

Yes. I live in Oklahoma, and it cost me $7.60 for shipping.
I sure do hope Telltale lightens up and honors loyal customers by completely removing the DRM in the disc version.

No idea. All I know is what I see:
