Loose is a word too, maybe he meant we can't loosen our grip, or we can't wear loose clothes, or something :P
  • edited April 2010
Exactly, it wasn't a typo or anything!
we can't wear loose clothes, or something :P
Exactly right... we can make an exception for you though...

just curious... are there any announcements/updates regarding our pre-order of ToMI dvd standard or deluxe edition dvd? still haven't received any emails or notice from the company if my order has shipped already or not.
  • edited April 2010
No announcements yet. Here's what we know.

    1. The DVD had to be submitted to the Powers That Be (i.e. LucasArts) for approval before it could be sent off for production.

    2. One of the issues that had to be approved was the disc's DRM.

    3. Will posted earlier today that the DRM has been decided.

What we don't know is if this means that the Powers That Be have approved the DVD or if it's been sent off for production. What we do know is that there will be an announcement and accompanying forum explosion when the DVD is ready to ship, and no such announcement has been made yet (hence the unexploded forums).

    hence the unexploded forums.
Although that might only last a single day, and not due to the ToMI DVD...

Why would TMI be holding back the W&G DVD? As has been said anyway, there's not much point in getting the W&G DVD because the episodes are online activated anyway (like the download versions) and I don't think there are any special feature to speak of....somebody correct me if I'm wrong. I'm just used to people referring to the W&G DVD as a coaster so often...

because since i bought it with the ToMI disc, i will only recieve it when they send the ToMI disc. and i want it for my collection. And if i'm getting it on disc anyway, i might just as well spare my bandwidth from however big it is.

    Who or what is/are DRM?

How will the items ship to Europe? If that volcano eruption never stop they must ship with a boat, or else! Because I can't wait more than necessary to get the stuff. haha.

That is indeed a problem... usually shipping (via plane) takes over a month. I can only imagine how long shipping by boat will take...

    Or 10 days!
So unless it takes 20 days to get from the Netherlands to Germany...

I got an email from Telltale games support because I sent in a question.

    Hi Captain Question Smuggler,
We expect the MI merchandise to come into inventory by month end and will ship shortly thereafter.
    Cheers,
    bonnie

So not too long to wait.

If it takes 30 days to make Germany, yet 10 days for the Netherlands, apparently *something* here makes it last 20 days to pass to your country...

    Or somesuch :p

But... You don't go through the Netherlands to go to Germany from the US. Actually, wouldn't you reach Germany first?
  • edited April 2010
Unless you want to fly over the whole of Asia and the majority of Europe instead of just the Pacific (which seems to me to be smaller ;)); no.
  • edited April 2010
Huh. France has a border with Germany but not with the Netherlands, so I've always seen Germany as one of the countries you go through to get to the Netherlands.
Well, I lived in the North of France so I'd go through Belgium, anyways.

Also, I think you meant Atlantic, not Pacific.
  • edited April 2010
If it takes 30 days to make Germany
it takes quite a lot longer, if you don't receive it the first time for some reason, then are told to wait slightly longer and say something if it still doesn't appear and then you forget about saying something and then you suddenly remember that you might have been supposed to say something and then it gets shipped again and THEN you finally receive it.

seriously, thanks bonnie for the awesome support! :)
  • edited April 2010
Still, the Netherlands are closer to the US than Germany... but I doubt that packages go through the Netherlands to reach Germany :D

But 10 days? Are we talking Telltale-shipments here? When I order stuff at Amazon.com it only takes a couple of days as well, but Telltale-stuff always took more than a month to arrive.

    Yes.

    Lucky you...

Oh, yeah, incidentally, I'm in western Canada (so, North of Telltale) and it takes more than 10 days for me.
Are you in a major city? That can make a big difference. I remember when I was in Paris I'd get letters from my boyfriend in Canada in just a few days, because he was in a major city and me too, so the mail just went directly from him to me, but letters from a friend in Europe took a whole week because it had to go to the next city, then to a major city, then to Paris. And I think friends who were both in France but both in small towns ended up having to wait even longer (small town => city => Paris => city => small town).

I'd say it's possible that mail meant to Germany or the Nertherlands stops in Paris or London first, although I think you're probably right that they don't go through each other.

Of course, if it's like taking a plane... I once had a transfer in Switzerland to go from France to Spain, and once in Germany to go from France to Canada, so...

    Not that I know off.
But I do live in the "Randstad", pretty much the economic heart of our country, so I guess that helps compared to anywhere else in the Netherlands.

Maybe it's something stupid, like it goes to the east cost before going to other countries because they have a center there. Doesn't seem too likely, because it's just stupid, but that could mean it's crossing the whole country West to East then East to West rather than going a bit North.

This being sad I blame Canada Post. Once I sent a package that came back to me after 6 months saying they couldn't find the address because for some reason they had decided a 4 looked like a 9 (or the opposite). I've had mail sent to me with the wrong street name in France and still reach me.
  • edited April 2010
I once got mail from Belgium:
    My name was incorrect.
    The streetname was incorrect.
    The city name was incorrect.
Actually the only thing correct was the country.

And it arrived just fine at my house...
  • edited April 2010
I'm going to assume it was all close enough, and not addressed to Robert Johnson in Pretzelburg or something :p

But yeah, I really like how they take the time to check for a name, street or city that's close enough to try and guess what the person meant. The Canadian one it looks like it was "hey, that address doesn't exist" "well, let's not bother checking if you mistook a 4 for a 9 even though it was obvious. We'll keep it here for a few months then send it back to the sender and make them pay for it".
    It was frustrating.

once a package for me from the UK went to Guyana, because someone didn't read "germany" right (even though the address was printed with a normal font and not even handwritten). it did eventually get here

By car, probably, but by plane, you'd reach the netherlands about 15-20 minutes earlier.

By plane, you probably would either go directly to one or the other, or stop in Paris or London, as I said in a previous post.

Rotterdam is the largest harbour in the world, so if it goes by ship we definatly get things earlier than you'd expect.
