It comes per plane, so Rotterdam's harbor should have nothing to do with it (isn't the Ruhrgebied harbor bigger anyway?)

By car, probably, but by plane, you'd reach the netherlands about 15-20 minutes earlier.
    Or 20 days... apparently.

A little strange how we use the term 'ship', then.

does anyone In TTG know whats gona happen if the volcanio don't stop or the ash don't go away when they ship out the DVD n stuff.
I presume the packages will be shipped as far as they can (I don't know how many times they switch planes to get to the UK or anything) and then be stored somewhere until planes can travel into the country again.

Unless Telltale end up holding onto them until the ash disappears. Not sure how prepared shipping companies are when it comes to long delays. I mean, planes get delayed all the time due to thunderstorms that last for a few hours, but it's not everyday an entire country gets covered by volcano ash* - and for such a long time!

*For those out of the UK wondering, no we're not literally covered in volcano ash, the ash is floating about 7 miles above us and we can't even see it! Just in case I confused anyone. XD

It used to be by ship, is all. Some things stick in the language even after they stop making sense.

Well, a few cargo planes are allowed to fly again, so by the time TTG ships the ToMI merch, I don't think the ash cloud will pose much of a problem anymore.

Unless of course the bigger volcano next to the one that's currently spewing ashes goes off...

You know, I understood perfectly well that I was pre-ordering, and I absolutely understand why it's taking so long, but still, this is the first time I've ever pre-ordered something that didn't have a definite release date, and I believe this is the first time I've paid for something and still not had it in my hands 39 days later, and that's sort of an odd feeling.

That said, I'm sure it will be worth the wait, even if it takes another 40 days.

I really hope it doesn't take another 40 days...

Well, if they said they'd "plane" it, you'd think it might come with a bunch of DVD shavings from the tool shop.

The upside to it taking so long is that when you finally do have it in your hands, the memory of actually giving the cash to Telltale will be more distant, so you can enjoy the swag more. :)

I'm starting to get annoyed with Telltale because of this kind of thing. It started when the first episode of ToMI was released, when it was pretty much "We'll get it out sometime today guys, we promise!" Same with the MI preorders. "We'll have them soon, we promise! Meanwhile, buy more of our stuff that we don't have yet!"

I mean, I get that they're an indie developer and all, but that's not very professional of them.

I don't see a problem with that. I've preordered stuff months early before. They said it should be out within April, we've got almost half the month to go, I'm not too worried.

yeah, same here.. first time to pre-order, first time also to receive my credit card bills and pay the amount of my pre-order but still not yet receive the package. im a bit worried but hope there'll be no problem.

I'm starting to have serious dobuts about this. It's been almost six weeks since the preorder and they said it would most likley ship in April. Now they say the "estimate" is in May. That could be 40 more days and we still don't know if that's a definite answer. I apologize if I sound impatient, I love Telltale and their products, but they need to seriously work on giving definite dates. I was fine at first, but six weeks later, we should have a definite date. Same goes for the updated version of the first episode, which only seems to have a different voice actor.

i don't really worry about it. we already have access to the games, and they will eventually ship it. Sure they could be more precise with the date, but it's not like telltale is scamming us. They wouldn't just take our money (in case of the deluxe edition) and run

    ...would they?
  • edited April 2010
I have no problem with it taking a long time, I have a problem with them giving us vague answers and never living up to those answers. If they honestly don't know when the products will be ready, don't say "soon", and then 42 days later, give the same answer. I would be fine if they just said "We will inform you when it is ready" and left at that. But when they say April and then six weeks later say, "Um, maby more like May", it lets a lot of people down who pay good money for the order and expect it at that releative date because that was what was said to them. They should just not give any date estiminations if they honestly aren't sure or just not do the pre order until certain aspects are in order to insure it will be truly ready to go soon.

Ehm, they never gave any date other than "spring" (until now, which is May)... WE made April of it.

From what i've understood April always was a best case scenario, being more likely to be at the end of april. no ONE person said he BELIEVES it MIGHT be in may. they have never said anything for sure.

for people like me who've waited for the eternally delayed and delayed again with countless promised release dates disappointing jedi academy mod knights of the force, this is nothing.
also duke nukem forever, but that has been "when it's done" for most (or all) of it's development time, so not the same.

I'm thinking that one of the reasons behind the delay is the Mac version.
It's the first time that Telltale is including the Mac version of one of their games on a DVD and they want to be sure that its quality is on par with the PC version.
As a Mac owner who played the whole season on CrossOver Games, I can't blame them for wanting to make everyone (but the more impatient among us) happy and personally couldn't care less about a definite release date, as long as I know it's coming.
Plus I'm sure that people wanting a definite release date wouldn't be happy if Telltale couldn't meet the date due to a need to fix a last minute glitch, nor would they be happy if Telltale met said date while not taking the time to fix such a glitch.
Still, I understand people needing a release date a lot more than people needing a release hour for a downloadable game!
My advice for Telltale. Next time, set the release date two months later than you're hoping to have the game ready for and make everyone happy when you release the game early! ;)

Yeah, I just saw that now, I heard April from another source. That was an error on my part, I apologize.

Nope, it will still take half-a-year for the Aussies, while we get it around next month.

    Sucks to be you.
