Thank you Monkey Island Fans
I always feel nervous about making a new thread, I don’t know why but I guess it’s because I put high expectations on my self, and just want to look cool like all other forum posters. (Don’t even know why I have that thought).
But anyway, I think this time I will relax and just go with the flow.
So what I want to do is what the thread name suggests, I want to thank you all in here for being Monkey Island fans.
I don’t have any friends who is as big a Monkey Island fan as I have just become. I have gotten 3 people to play ToMI, they enjoyed it but they are not as excited about it as I am, but then again maybe I am just an over excited person, but there is not really anything wrong with that
I must admit though that my fan status only started just recently (As I have just joined the forum this year).
I saw my brother play Curse of Monkey Island many years ago when I was about 10 or so, and later I watched him play Escape from Monkey Island when I was 13. But that was it, and I just slowly forgot about it. Then just recently I was bored and wanted to do something, so I watched some Let’s Plays on Youtube, and the Monkey Island series just happened to pop in to my mind, I watched them all from 1 to 4. After that I saw Tales and I watched it quite far and I thought it was very funny, and then my Boyfriend suggested I should buy it if I liked it so much, so I did.
After that I was instantly hooked, and I never regret buying it. Childhood memories came back, and I started to become a real fan, and started to regret that I have missed out on something so great as this all these years.
I only have ToMI so far, but in the near future I will buy SoMI:SE and when it comes out this summer, LR:SE.
I bought the Deluxe Edition of ToMI so I am waiting for the DVD and all the extra goodies, and I bought the Voodoo Cards. And when the finances allows I will buy a T-Shirt, the Mug and all the Buttons. And if anything extra comes out, I will buy that as well.
So yeah, in a short time I have become a huge fan, and just wanted someone to talk to about it, who feel the same way I do.
And this forum gives me exactly that, friendly Monkey Island Fans. It’s so great to have a place to share thoughts and excitement, when the real world don’t offer you those opportunities. So nice to know you are not alone
Oh and here at the end of my post I want to thank Wolfstar27, after just about 40 posts and you want to be my friend.
Just means that my achievement for coolness on a forum (Don’t know why that is important to me) is going somewhere, I have never had forum friends before, I feel so giddy
Ok I will stop my rant now before I embarrass my self, but again thank you people for being Monkey Island fans

I'm always enjoying this community, it seems we all have things to contribute that inspire one another, whether it's a comment, a debate or fanart (how would I have been able to make a narwhal strapped to a rocket without Majus? Now it looks good on my resume!)
I think it's awesome that we can all share our love for the series. You know what they say, love is a unique resource in that the more you share it, the more you have of it
It was especially good during the season. The amount of Fanart that flooded into these forums was incredible. The discussions after each episode's release were very intriguing, I loved hearing other people's theories and speculation on what would happen next. And the few hours leading up to each release were extremely fun, it was so good, you simply have to be a part of it when (or if) a second season is released.
This community is really great, you guys are all great!
I am so proud to be part of this
Ohh, trust me I will, my only regret as posted above is joining all this so late, I really missed out
The Silwerwolfpet wants to be my friend! *Faints*
just kidding.. we take anyone here.
That sure is a hard one to answer, but in my case I am just a friendly person, and if there are people here who are not that friendly, I guess that is just the effect Guybrush has on them
Lol, no I can't moonwalk, and I not a MJ fan to even want to learn.
But hmm, I can touch my nose with my tongue, to gross?
- Hi SilverWolfPet.
- And before playing Monkey Island, I used to kick babies.
- *clap clap clap*
Don't worry about looking "cool" on the forums. You already know the truth.
Haha! It's posts like these that make me wish I could give a 'thumb's up' like on Youtube.
Hey no need to thank me, I wanted to be your friend, cause i thought your Outstanding, sweet, caring and funny and a bonus your monkey island fan like me
i thought i was the only Monkey Island fan, where i was from, but coming on this forum,i feel at home and i can share my love for the game
I appreciate that I know people IRL who have an interest in adventure games, but I must admit that becoming part of this community has made it so much easier for me to just chat to others about them. Here, people actually know what I'm talking about!
And yes, VeronicanPlay, like Hayden said, the community was amazing throughout the series. There was this epic insanity in the forums each release day.
Thanks everyone for making the community such a brilliant one!
And thanks to Monkey Island for making us better persons!!
Hi, I'm known as SubSidal.... And before I discovered Monkey Island I always left the toilet seat up...
And to add to how awesome the fans are on the MI forums.... Can I be your friend too?
And how wonderful to see a fan created from playing a new game in a series. We have Telltale to thank for that with the outstanding job they did with Tales!
Thank you to Telltale and the fans that made this all possible! I have missed Monkey Island so much, and am ecstatic that such a large outpouring of support has happened in the last year.
Enjoy the Monkey Island forums! (Tried to do it Sparta inspired)
I love to see that this Thread isn't dead yet, I have seen many threads die after I have posted... Or maybe because I just posted in an already dead thread
I must say I am flattered, never really felt so welcome in a community before.
You guys sure are awesome!
Yarrrr bet
It's like selling your soul... Once you're in it, there's no turning back! Arghh!!
Outside of my sister and her ex-boyfriend I've never really known any MI fans either so it's definately nice that this place is still running strong.
Glad to see you finally saw the light! And yes you should get SoMI:SE ASAP!!!
Also, I'm an American MI fan, so I'm extra rare!
Oh yeah, and, after you played all the MI games... If you're craving some more adventure games... might wanna check out Sam & Max.
Hmm, are American MI fans obscure? What country is MI the most popular in, I wonder?
If I HAD to guess, I would say... Germany? Just a guess though.
Us US MI fans are out there, but I think it's just a little less per capita than european countries per say... I could be wrong, but I doubt it.
Maybe the fans are there, they just don't speak up.
Or maybe I just need to get out more.
Also this is the first I've heard of Elijah Wood saying he's a fan, that's cool.
Why dont you organise a Monkey Island event in America, and see how many people turn up, i bet you'd be suprised, and as they say "if you build it, they will come" lol
if you orgnise it will, you might get Dom to come down and the telltales crew..cause there from the states....maybe start a facebook event or group...i dunno
Now there's some inspiration all I need is that spooky voice whispering in my ear.
That part actually is kind of inspiring. That would be cool if I had the time and money for something like that, in which case I would be all over it.
edit: oh facebook group or something, might be worth looking into.
But where would it be held? I think that is a big part of the problem with the U.S. There are too many states, it's hard to get everyone together in one spot for things like this. But it would be worth a shot. Especially if Dom and the telltale crew could make an appearance.
