I guess my point is that if I was making a game for the DS, I'd make it around the fact that it was going to be on two screens with a touch screen, and stuff like that.
Most of the games that come out for the DS don't feel like games for the DS, but games that happen to be playable on the DS. The second screen has non-essential information, the touch screen can be replaced by using buttons, etc. Just feels like unused potential.
I feel exactly the opposite. Most games are ruined by adding in touch screen controls, such as Viewtiful Joe Double Trouble. But even worse than that is when a game only uses the touch screen, and forsakes the use of a single button. Even on iPod/iPhone, which doesn't even have buttons, they usually involve on screen buttons/analog sticks, at the very least.
And as for blowing into a video game to play it... yeah I'll pass.

I'm completely with you on this. While the touch screen is the most immediately obvious feature of the DS, it's not the only one, and for some games it just gets in the way. If it makes sense to use the touch screen, great. If not, then you're better off leaving it alone.
And yeah, most DS systems still have the GBA slot, so releasing a GBA game is technically possible, but the processing power of the GBA is about in line with the SNES, while the DS is actually more powerful than the N64 and has two more buttons to work with, so it still doesn't make any sense.
For example, the Mario Kart series. Mario Kart: Super Circuit on the GBA sucked. Mario Kart DS, on the other hand, is my favorite entry in the series, and it was controlled entirely with the buttons and only used the touch screen for maps. Would that game have been nearly as good if it had been released on the GBA? No way in hell.
Unfortunately, I feel that many developers share Avistew's perspective on the whole thing, and that's why we get so many gimmicky games for the DS. Implementing touch screen control or Wiimote gimmicks comes before creating solid gameplay, so we end up with games that aren't very fun to play and trip over their own control systems.
And this isn't to say that the touch screen and Wii remote are horrible things. When used properly, they can be fantastic. But I feel that many games have been ruined just because those features were available, so the developer felt compelled to use them.
Edit: Anyone else think this discussion should be moved into a new thread?
You know, at first I thought the DS and Wii controls were incredibly innovative....but the idea just died too fast. I simply find myself wanting a simple controller more and more all the time because both Wii and DS controls make my wrists hurt (Red Steel anyone?). Nintendo turned from a console maker with optional gimmick add-ons to simply the gimmick add-ons alone and killed a lot of gaming opportunities. Especially when most third party titles don't take advantage of the controls as they should. I really appreciate Brawl for sticking to conventional controls because of this. Not every game in the world (certainly not every game for a given console) works with the Wiimote/DS Stylus.
I don't like collecting things. I do have a handsome lib but collecting things often is just such a waste of space and time. Looking at people's collections reminds me of wasted ressources, that mostly these things are barely used and should better stand in some public library so that people could actually use them.
As for films, books, games, ... having this stuff online accessible or at least on a harddrive is a relief to me and i like browsing through my never dust catching games lib here.
I liked the picture with the E.T. cartridge on the VCS2600. :O)

Red Steel 2's a complete beauty, but it will wreck you arms the first time you play it, the Motionplus controls really transform the game, first (proper) game i've played where motion control could actually hold its own as a legitimate interface. But man it'll wreck you
I don't really collect things. If I buy a movie that's part of a triology or something I usually end up buying all of them just to feel complete, but that's pretty much it.
I intend to start collecting guitars but I need the money and space to do so. At the moment I own two ibanez guitars.
I also tried to make a collection of whisky at one point but I ended up drinking everything instead
I've got all boxsets of The Sopranos, a drawer full of Tuborg beer caps, a drawer full of nostalgic junk/souvenirs and about 300 dvds
If I counted correctly, that's 224. And every single one of them is funny if you add "in bed" to the end.
Oh, and SHODANFreeman, I never answered your question. I don't own RE4 Wii twice. The disc from the first one "mysteriously disappeared'' (have I mentioned I don't trust my sister's boyfriend and have proven that he stole my Yu-Gi-Oh deck?), so I bought a new one and used the case from the old one for Link's Crossbow Training. Also, the blank case contains Wii Sports and I'm currently using it to hold the slipcover from Metroid Prime Trilogy.

Have you ever tried adding 'Ladies?' to the end of them? That also tends to make fortunes pretty funny.
On topic, unfortunately my admittedly small collection of Godzilla figures (Almost all the monsters up to the Millennium era minus Destoroyah and Hedorah, whom have been lost in the great Ant War of my Sister's closet) is back home in CA, so unfortunately I can't put a picture up unless I get my sister to take a shot of them for me...

Hmm, well I have WELL over 20 Sims games, and I try to get as much Sam & Max stuff as I can get my greasy little mitts on, but apart from that I'm not much of a collector. Did try collecting Gorillaz stuff once though, didn't take long for me to get bored...did get some nifty badges though!

Problem, meet solution:
...i think i'll just stick to blowing the dust out... then sneezing for the first 15 minutes of the game
